Hi lovely ladies,
I am super excited to share this DIY with you guys. The egg shell earrings are totally eco friendly and super easy to make yet they look classy and trendy. The inspiration behind this DIY is from school life days when teachers asked us to make Easter eggs and we used to cover a ball with egg shell pieces and color them 😀 So, let’s move ahead to the DIY.
Things you would need for the DIY:
- Egg shells.
- A pair of old earrings.
- Watercolor paints.
- Nail top coat.
Step 1 – Boil eggs in water and carefully peel out the egg shells. It is totally fine if the egg shells removed are of varied size differences. The egg shells in the earrings are of abstract design, so no neat cut shapes are required.
Step 2 – Take out your old piece of earrings and apply a thin layer of glue.
Step 3 – Now, stick the egg shells to the earrings in a random manner and let it dry for 5 minutes.
Step 4 – Now, use your scissors and cut out any sharp edges.
Step 5 – Take out your favourite color of watercolor paints and start painting. I wanted it to be in ombre style. I have used three colors. Pink, blue and purple shade to build up the ombre effect. It is always better to start painting from light to dark colors. You could also try painting them in single color if you want to. I love colors so couldn’t stop with one color.
Step 6 – Leave them to dry.
Step 7- Now, apply your nail varnish top coat for a glossy touch to the earrings. This will also protect our egg shells and keep them in place.
Your egg shell earrings are done with all the necessities from home. This DIY is so addictive, can’t stop with one. I went further and tried the egg shells in an old bangle.
- If you are a vegetarian, instead of the egg shells, you can go ahead and use rice or dhal to create textures. Mustard seeds will give an effect of micro beads.
- Play around the same technique in your old bangles, different shapes of earrings and also in stuffs like any plain purses, boxes and so on.
- You need not go always subtle, try bold neon colors and monochromes too.
- If you don’t have watercolor paints, you can try with acrylic or poster paint mediums.
I really hope you guys liked the DIY. Try it and enjoy!
