Electric Blue Party Makeup Photo Tutorial

Hi everyone, this is the 2nd look in the holiday makeup series. You can wear this look to any party or fun occasion. So let’s get started..

This look is full of bold, bright and dark eyeshadows..so I recommend to do your eyemakeup first and then apply your base makeup for the rest of the face.this way you can clean up the fallouts without the fear of ruining your foundation and concealer.

Blue Eye Makeup Tutorial

Step 1: Apply an eyeshadow base. You can use either a concealer or a primer. I used a concealer. Blend it. If you want you can add a li’l bit of loose poder on the top.i didn’t.

Step 2: Now apply a matte or shimmery highlight  colour which is close to your skintone on the browbone and bring it down up to the crease. This helps with easy blending of crease colour. Since my nose photographs fat I kept it only on the outer 3/4th  part of my eye. You can bring it inwards too if you have very close set eyes.it just depends on what works for you.

Step 3: Now take a matte dark electric blue eyeshadow and apply it to the inner 1/4th of the lid. Then take a pice of paper or tissue (you can also use the cello tape technique) and place it  as shown in the pic (from corner of your eye to the end of your brow). Now apply the same blue eyeshadow to the outer 1/4th of the lid. At this point do not take this colour above the crease. It should look like this..

Step 4: Now take some more of that same blue eyeshadow and draw a line right in the crease. It should look like this.

Step 5: Now take a shimmery light/medium blue eyeshadow and place it in the gap between dark colour. It should  be right in the middle otherwise it won’t give the desired dimension to the eye. Blend it with the dark colour on both sides by slightly patting where the two colours meet.

Step 6: Now to tone down the brightness take a matte dark brown colour and place it in the outer v. I dont have a matte brown so I had to use a shimmery one. If you want you can take it all the way inwards up to the inner corner of the crease. Avoid taking it inwards if you have very close set  or small eyes.

Step 7: Now  blend the colours above the crease. Since my nose photographs fat i blended the dark colour up to the brow on the inner half  of my eye (not showing up well in these pics). This helps the nose look a li’l slimmer. Avoid it if you have very close set eyes and eyebrows. After that add a shimmery highlight colour to the inner corner of your eyes.

Step 8: Line your upper lashline with a black waterproof liquid/gel liner(I winged it a bit), add 2-3 coats of waterproof mascara to your curled lashes, line your waterline with loads of black waterproof pencil/gel liner.eye makeup is finished!

*please please pleaaaassseee do not add blue eyeshadow to your lower lashline like I did. wondering why!? you’ll know in few seconds…

Step 10: Apply your base makeup if you haven’t.then apply a peach/coral blush to your cheeks and finish off with a peachy/corally nude lipstick and a clear gloss(optional). Don’t get confused about my changed tops! I just wanted to see how it looks with a black dress.. 😀

Now I think you understood why I told not to put blue shadow on your lower lashline! Look how gaudy it is looking in these pics!!! In real life it was not that obvious but once I started taking pics with flash It made me look like a blue alien! Whereas the whole eye look was not that flashy and bright in real life!! and also did you notice that the brown colour is not at all showing up in pics? There was already so much shimmer going on in the form of highlight colour and the middle colour..but again I used a shimmery brown one and they all together reflected so much light from the flash and so the brown colour almost disappeared.so if you wanna do this look, use a matte brown eyeshadow.

Please don’t get scared by these pics..my eyes are looking scary with all that flashy blue colour but trust me..in real life it was much more toned down. 🙂

Products used

Blue Eye Makeup Tutorial

Face:

1) foundation: giordani gold adaptive foundation in “light ivory” and mary kay medium coverage foundation in “ivory/ivoire 200” (I mixed both to get the right shade and finish)

2) concealer: oriflame absolute concealer for eyes in “pink” and “gold”(only for eyes).for face I used Pierre cardin stick concealer in “04 ambre”(not photographed)

3)blush: first i used a matte corally orange lipstick as a base and then on top of it I applied loreal bare naturale blush in “perfectly peach”.(I did this because I do not have any peach/coral blush)

4) oriflame visions pressed powder in “light”.

I also slightly contoured my cheeks, nose and temples with a powder which is 2-3 shades darker than my skintone.

Lips:

1) oriflame triple core lipstick in “spectacular nude” and “amazing peach”(first I used SN and on top of it addes AP to get the perfect shade.if you have a peachy/coally nude lipstick then happily go ahead and use it)

2) Ambika pillai lite lipgloss in “clear”

Eyes:

1) oriflame dual skin corrector in “medium” as an eyeshadow base

2) oriflame for your eyes only eyeshadows in “angel”(highlight),”mystic”(dark electric blue colour),”lovely”(medium blue middle colour) ”chic”(dark brown colour)

3) ambika pillai mascara.(this one is not waterproof)

4)shahnaz hussain kajal.(I don’t have a waterproof liner)

5)ambika pillai liquid liner.

6)eye lash curler(not photographed)

7)brush that came in oriflame brush set.

Brows:

Oriflame brow pencil in “medium”

You all may have heard that blue liner on waterline cancels the redness in the eyes and makes them look brighter and fresher..though i did not use one on waterline, the blue shadows worked in brightening my eyes! My eyes were red after getting exposed to so much flash while taking pics.at the end when I looked in to the mirror I noticed that my eyes looked fresh and lively.so you can wear this look to late night parties where you’ll be awake till midnight/early morning(ex:new year parties) and your eyes are going to get tierd and inturn become red.

Thank you everyone for reading this super long post! 😀  Hope you all liked the look. Any suggestions and requests are happily welcome.. 🙂
