My Experience with ELF Baked Highlighter and Blush Duo Rose Gold:

Packaging: The packaging is cute and convenient. Although it isn’t the sturdiest packaging and probably won’t survive a great fall, but for the price, there’s not much to complain. It comes in a small pan, and the dome-shaped highlighter and blush is guarded by a transparent plastic lid. The pan is encased in a plastic holder and comes packaged in a black cardboard box. The box has all details written. The back of the product has the name and shade written.

I don’t read reviews before buying products, unless they are from trusted sources like IMBB. When I saw that this product wasn’t reviewed yet, I picked it without a second thought. Honestly, I didn’t mind a few bucks for a blush-highlighter combo. When I got it, I was not happy. Why? The product lacked pigmentation. The two shades disappointed me equally. The highlighter is a mix of champagne and rose gold shades and the blush is a peach one. Both the colors are very pretty to look at, and will work best with fair skin tones. While the highlighter is good for all skin tones, the blush can look overwhelming on complexions on the wheatish or dusky sides.

The product felt gritty and was difficult to use. I swiped it multiple times and my brush wouldn’t pick up the product. The blush when worn as a standalone product didn’t complement me, but the highlighter was good and wanted to use it. While I had made up my mind about tossing away the product and giving negative reviews, I read a few online reviews. Some people suggested scraping off the top layer and then using it. Absurd as it sounded, there was no harm in trying. And voila! The product was great! The pigmentation was amazing, there was no chalkiness or gritty feeling. It can be used dry or wet, and now it gives perfect results with a brush. I generally use the highlighter and swirl my brush in both to give a rosy gold sheen to my cheeks. I don’t mind the fall out after scraping off, because at least now I get to use it.

It blends well and stays easily for 4 hours, but the blush shimmers can give it a frosty look and thus might not be everyone’s cup of tea. It doesn’t accentuate pores or cling to dryness. I am quite happy with this ELF product for now.
