Today I am going to share my thoughts on Elf beauty on the go single palette in day on the beach. When I saw this palette available online I just got reminded of the much raved urban decay naked palettes. Everyone one of us is aware of elf cosmetics for offering quite good makeup quality at such affordable price ranges. It was obvious; looking at the price tag and all the brown shades I wanted to try at least one palette. I went ahead and bought one of them, so here it is .
Price – INR 350- I bought it from an Indian online store (It retails for 1.50 dollars in US)
The Elf beauty on the go single palette caters for eyes, lips and face with eyeshadows, lip glosses and blush. The beauty on the go palette is available in six different colour palette sets. The palette sets covers everything from natural brown nudes, smokey greys and to bold bright pinks.
The palette is packed in a black cover case. Inside the palette is placed in a transparent cover which is made of quite thick plastic and one can store them safely without the carry case they provide. The palette carry case is sold separately. The carry case has a mirror provided along with it for touch ups. Each palette can be easily popped in and out of the carry case so that you can change your palette to your needs. I was all impressed with the concept of the palettes. I bought the palette alone and did not go for the carry case. Overall, I liked the packaging.
The day on the beach palette has eyeshadows both matte and shimmer shades. It has neutral brown shades with beiges and also has a champagne shade for highlighting. If you are person who would love neutral shades, you would like the palette a lot. The palette has two pink lipsticks and a pale pink blush. The eyeshadows work well for my dusky skin tone (I am nc 43.5 in mac). The lipsticks and the blush is a total waste for me as it is a way too light for me.
Texture and pigmentation:
The texture of the eyeshadow is quite powdery and there is a lot of fall out. I was quite disappointed. The pigmentation of the eyeshadows differ, the shimmer shades have average pigmentation while the matte ones have poor pigmentation. The matte shades showed up on skin after some four times of layering. One should always use a creamy base or a good primer under the eyeshadows otherwise they won’t show up well. The lipsticks and the blush are really poor in colour pay off; they show up on my skin after some five times of layering.
The eyeshadows only stay for about 2 hours on me. I have combination skin. A good primer would increase the wear-time of the eyeshadows.
Pros of ELF Beauty on the go Single Palette – Day on the Beach:
• Good packaging
• Travel friendly
• Good mix of neutral and highlight shades of eyeshadows.
Cons of ELF Beauty on the go Single Palette – Day on the Beach:
• Too much fall-out of eyeshadows
• Poor texture and pigmentation
• Lipsticks and blush have bad colour pay off
• Availability – only few online stores in India stock them up, otherwise you need to bear the shipping prices.
2/5 (for the shimmer brown eyeshadows)
