ELF Cream Eyeliner:Metallic Olive

ELF Cream Eyeliner:Metallic Olive

Eyeliner is something that I barely step out of my home without. If am not wearing eyeliner people ask me, “Are you ok?”, “Did something happen?” etc! That is not the case, just because I’m not wearing liner or makeup does not mean I’m going through a life’s tragedy, people, it’s just because some days one feels like wearing just mascara or no makeup at all. 😀 But recently, I found a new love in this Metallic Olive Cream Liner. So let’s dig into its review!

Ingredients:

Isododecane, Hydrogenated Polyisobutene, Polybutene, Polyethylene, Barium Sulfate, Cyclomethicone, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, Propylene Carbonate, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI77891), Red No.40 Lake (CI 16035), Mica (CI 77019), Blue No.1 Lake (CI 42090), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Ultramarine Violet (CI77077).

Directions:

• Swipe off any excess formula on the top edge of the pot.
• Trace a line along the top lash line from the inner corner towards the outer corner of the eye.
• If desired, apply on lower lash line as well.
• Remove with an oil based eye makeup remover.

My experience with ELF Cream Liner Metallic Olive:

I usually wear black or navy blue or brown eyeliner. But when I have time while doing my makeup, I open my “experimental” box of makeup and try new colors. This color was kept along with the purples, blues, golds etc. I never took special notice of it since it looked just brown. But when one day, it was bright and sunny, I was going through my gel liners near a window and BAM! This color pot just caught my eye as it was reflecting gold! That’s when I finally took notice of it, swatched it & immediately fell in love with greenish-brown- with-gold color.

The name is just so cute and apt, it is metallic as it has that bronzey-gold sheen to it and definitely olive but would not call it a true olive-green as it’s more like a brownish-green. When applied though it looks mostly brownish-green, it’s when light falls on it or I move that I can see the metallic gold in it. It is not a shimmery gold through but more like a duo-chrome. It does not have gold particles in it that fall off; it’s just a very unique color that changes its reflection depending on how light falls on it.

brush

ELF provides a small angled-liner brush with it, but I’m not a fan of this brush, as it gives a very thick line. I like to have more control and the thinner the line a brush allows the more I like it. This color is very creamy and extremely pigmented; a little goes a long way. And as with most gel liners, it can comfortably be used as a base color for eyeshadow as well or even on its own, as the color is beautiful. Since the gel liner dries up, this color will not smudge when applied even all over the crease.

liner

Here I’ve worn it just as an eye-liner with just a “my-skin-but-brighter” color eyeshadow and a very light brown through the crease. It applies really well and looks very decent on its own. It stays on without fading till you decide to remove it, I removed it with baby oil, as I always do with liners, after 7 hours of wear and it was just as I had applied in the morning.

EOTD

Here I’ve worn it as not just the liner but also have it on half my outer upper lid. There is no other eyeshadow color on the outer V but on the middle of the lid I have applied a light green color and some gold in the inner corner. Since it is a gel liner, it does not blend out much and would suit in the crease if you want a sharp cut-crease, I would not recommend using it if you a want very soft blended out crease. Even though it had no eyeshadow over it, still had not creased even after 4 hours, till, I had to remove it.

Pros of ELF Cream Liner Metallic Olive:

• Beautiful, unique, metallic, duo-chrome color.
• True to its claims – smudge proof, budge proof, water resistant.
• Very creamy and easy to apply – thinnest of lines or thickest; both are possible.
• Affordable.
• Super quality for the price.
• Comes with a brush.
• The bottom is transparent, so can be stored upside down to indicate the color.
• Will not crease if used as an eye shadow, even without an eye shadow to set over it.

Cons of ELF Cream Liner Metallic Olive:

• The brush is not of much intended help. (I use it mostly to fill in my eyebrows!)
• Available in India only online.

Would I repurchase or recommend it?:

I would love to repurchase this color, it is very unique and I definitely recommend it to anyone who likes colors other than black or brown as eye liners.

IMBB Rating:

4.5/5 (deducting mainly because the brush provided with this)

All said and done I love this color and have no major complains with it. You should check this out, if you like such “different” colors.

Take care ladies and Happy Makeuping!
