ELF Essential Bali Bound Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick Review

I have started venturing into eye makeup just recently. And while I am comfortable with mascara and eyeliners, I am not so much with eye shadows.  Hence before investing in some expensive eyeshadows, I decided to pick up some inexpensive ones to experiment. Today, I am reviewing ELF Essential Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick in the shade “Bali Bound,” which comes at a price tag of mere 2 dollars.

Product Description:
This creamy and pigment rich Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick is perfect for creating a natural or smoky eyeshadow look. Infused with nourishing Vitamin E to condition the delicate eye area. The twist up component and smooth glide formula is easy to use for on-the-go beauty.

How To Use:
For best results, apply ELF eyelid primer prior to adding color for long-lasting wear. Draw stick along the eyelid and lash line and blend in with a brush or with your finger tips.

My Experience with ELF Essential Bali Bound Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick:

Packaging:  This is a cream eyeshadow and comes in a crayon format. The bottom part of the crayon matches the color of the eyeshadow.

It has a transparent plastic cap which shuts tightly and there is no danger of the cap coming off in your bag. The product is in a twist-up format. The crayon stick is very handy and pretty easy to use for beginners.

Shade/Pigmentation:  Bali Bound is a beautiful emerald green. It is a gorgeous shade with a lot of shimmer.
The eyeshadow is decently pigmented and one swipe deposits good color on the lids. You can of course build on the intensity.

Texture/Finish/Staying Power:  The texture of this eye shadow is very creamy. It applies smoothly on the lids without any tugging. It is also very easy to blend with fingers or brush.  This eyeshadow contains visible shimmer and hence the finish is a shiny metallic one.

Since this is a cream eyeshadow, it starts getting oily after a while and especially so if you have oily eyelids. It wears off in about 2-3 hours, which is not impressive at all.

To summarize, this is an easy-to-use eyeshadow which looks pretty while it lasts. But alas, it doesn’t last for too long. I would recommend this to beginners to experiment with eye makeup, but not for those who are looking for some heavy duty eye makeup.

Cons of ELF Essential Bali Bound Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick:

• Gets oily soon.
• Staying power is pretty bad and the shadow disappears in 2 to 3 hours.

Would I Repurchase ELF Essential Bali Bound Jumbo Eyeshadow Stick?
I would recommend it only to beginners as it does not have a good staying power.  I already have other shades in this range and will not repurchase the same shade.
