Seeing as I got my pack mule of a bro *wink* to get a ton of ELF products, I have been on seventh heaven. It is so hard to get good quality yet affordable makeup in India and ELF offers a perfect mix of the two. It’s light on the pocket but darn! It has amazing quality makeup at such throwaway prices.  Eye makeup have always appealed to me, due to the transformative powers it apparently possesses. You can notice this, especially when Japanese people do their makeup. The before and after pictures don’t actually seem like the same person! All due to some deftly applied makeup.  Good quality eyeshadows in India, usually cost upward of 700-800 bucks in India, but the product I am going to review is a mere 150 bucks but can be at par, if not surpass, the drugstore eyeshadows in India.

Product Description:

Create flawless looking eyes with brilliant eyeshadow and an easy step-by-step application guide. These beautifully coordinated shadows give you a professionally contoured and defined eye that allows you to go as bold or natural as you want. The silky smooth formula glides effortlessly onto the skin for long-lasting color.  Apply the base color all over the eyelid up to the browbone. Follow by sweeping on the lid shade all over the eyelid to shade. Next, apply the crease color in the crease of the eye where the lid meets the brow bone to contour. Finish by adding the line color around the lash line and outer corner of the eye to define and blend in edges.

Packaging:

The packaging is sub standard and quite flimsy, but the concept of the Essentials line in ELF, is that they compromise on packaging, but not on the quality of the product. The flimsy packaging houses four coordinated colours for a no brainer party/everyday look. There is the standard useless sponge applicator along with a mirror for the on-the-go touch ups. I wouldn’t risk dropping this eyeshadow, because I am almost completely certain that it will shatter immediately.

My Views on ELF Essential Flawless Eyeshadow of Golden Goddess:

Golden Goddess immediately drew me in, merely by the name.  It sounds so deliciously exotic and decadent! Seeing as it is a part of the “Essentials” line, I wasn’t expecting a lot from this quad, but it surpassed my expectations with flying colours. It’s a beautifully pigmented quad which lasts a decent 2-3 hours without primer, but with primer, they look more vibrant and easily last for 6-7 hours.

Yes, the shades are a tad too powdery and fall out is a teeny-tiny problem, but nothing a little translucent powder and primer can’t fix. If used correctly, a subtle yet attractive smokey eye can be achieved.

Pros of ELF Essential Flawless Eyeshadow of Golden Goddess:

• Coordinated colours.
• Beautiful pigmented eyeshadows that have a sheen as opposed to shimmer.
• Blends well.
• No brainer when it comes to coordinating colours.
• Easy to travel with, as it’s so tiny.
• The mirror for on-the-go touch up.
• Swatches on the site are bang on.
• Ease of removal.

Cons of ELF Essential Flawless Eyeshadow of Golden Goddess:

• Flimsy packaging.
• Powdery.
• Needs a primer for the true colours to show through.
• Creases in 3 hours without a primer.
• Useless sponge applicator.
• Non-availability in India.

Would I Repurchase ELF Essential Flawless Eyeshadow of Golden Goddess?

In some other colour, perhaps.
