ELF Golden Glow Custom Eyeshadow Review

In my stash of eye shadows, I have plenty of golden eye shades and some of them are repetitive, but that does not stop me from buying various variations of golden shades because it complements my dusky Indian complexion and somehow I never go wrong with them. I bought some shadows off the ELF website and I got a good deal on these. Also since they are not available in most stores, I was super excited to buy a bunch of these shadows. Read on further to know more about this product.

My Take on ELF Golden Glow Custom Eyeshadow:

Packaging:  It’s the usual packaging of a refill shadow pan – shadow in a circular, 2 mm deep pan which can be added to an empty palette to make your own custom palette. Nothing further to add except that I liked the way how it was packed before it was shipped – kept the pan and shadow safe.

Texture:  It is a powder eyeshadow set in a cake form, but is very smooth and easy to apply. Even though it has mild shimmer, it is smooth and does not feel gritty. However, unlike the last shade that I had reviewed, this one is bit too powdery and has to be used with a damp brush to apply on lids and get a decent wear time.

Color: Plain good old golden shade with no undertones what so ever. If used individually, it won’t even show on my lids, but with a darker shade in the background, it would be more obvious. It can be used to highlight the inner corner of eyes and also high points of our face.

Pigmentation:  This shadow has very good pigmentation. I gently swiped my fingertips on the shadow to take a picture and was delightfully amazed to see the color that my fingertips picked up. Two swipes are enough to get an intense eye look.

Wear Time:  5-6 hours after which it starts to crease.  We can increase the wear time with a primer or white eyeshadow underneath.

This is a very good product for the amount you pay.  I bought nearly nine shadow pans to make my own custom palette. ELF site also sells empty palettes in which one can add the pans of their desired color, but I bought a better and cheaper one online. They might be dirt cheap but all the shades in this range have a good review online.

Pros of ELF Golden Glow Custom Eyeshadow:

• Standard aluminum pan which is perfect for making custom eye shadow palette.
• Will look pretty on Indian skin tones, especially with traditional wear and even on fair skin tones.
• Available in 11 different shades.
• No fragrance.
• Good pigmentation and easy to build.
• Stays on for decent amount of time.
• Shades are good and cover the entire spectrum.
• Affordable and in less than 10 bucks, one can make an entire custom palette.

Cons of ELF Golden Glow Custom Eyeshadow:

• Not available in stores, have to order it online.
• Texture is bit too powdery.

Would I Repurchase ELF Golden Glow Custom Eyeshadow?
No, because it will last me big time, but I am planning to buy all the colors from this range since they perform so well and are so smooth on my pocket. All those who love to experiment with new makeup and want to customize it to suit their preferences and skin type, should give these shadow pans a try.
