ELF Hypershine Gloss in Fairy
Hello everyone!
Hope you all are doing well! I am not a very lip gloss loving person. I hardly ever buy glosses. Lip balms (tinted/non-tinted) are my favourite / go-to lip products and I love hoarding them. I do own a few lip glosses though and would be reviewing one of them today.

The product I would be reviewing today is “ELF Hypershine Gloss” in the shade “Fairy”.

Product Description: [Taken from the website] Hyper, glass-like shine infused with micro-mirror technology to reflect light. Smoothes lips on contact with a conditioning shine that lasts for hours. Create that natural lip stain of color that’s sheer, subtle and beautiful!
Shades Available: Fairy, Bubblegum, Berry Cherry, Blossom, Joy, Flirt, Vixen, Bare
Price: USD 1 (I got a pack of 3 colors – Vixen, Fairy, Bubblegum for $2!!!)
Ingredients: Paraffinium Liquidum (Mineral Oil), Polyisobutene, Silica, Fragrance(Aroma), Methylparaben, Propylparaben, Titanium Dioxide(CI 77891), BHT, Iron Oxides (CI 77491 , CI 77492 , CI 77499), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Mica (CI 77019), Red No.6 Lake (CI 15850), Red No.7 Lake (CI 15850), Red No.28 Lake (CI 45410), Blue No.1 Lake (CI 42090), Yellow No.5 Lake (CI 19140), Yellow No.6 Lake (CI 15985)
Directions for use: Twist bottom to apply. Apply gloss alone or on top of desired lip color.
My experience with ELF Hypershine Gloss in Fairy:
These glosses come in a twist up pen kind of tube. You can hear a click every time it is twisted. It has a brush applicator.
The packaging is pretty standard (nothing that makes me go ‘wow’). The tube is transparent so that the actual color of the gloss is visible. It has been suggested on the tube that the bottom of this click pen needs to be twisted 6-7 times before the first application. But I had to twist it at least 20-25 times to actually get some product out on the brush applicator. The shade name is mentioned at the bottom of the gloss pen.
The brush feels really soft and gentle on the lips. However, I prefer lip glosses that come in a tube with a doe-foot applicator. I am more comfortable using them. A problem with this twist up pen and brush style gloss is that by any chance, if one ends up twisting the pen more, a lot of product oozes through the brush. Unlike the doe-foot applicator, there is no way of putting the extra product back inside the tube. So product wastage is kind of a problem here.
All colors in this range are pretty sheer. This particular shade is a pale light pink, with a pearl finish. This does not really suit my skin tone and completely washes me out. It looks a bit better if paired with smokey eyes. I find this a bit thick and sticky (not too much) and it feels a bit heavy on the lips. ELF Hypershine Gloss in Vixen is most pigmented, less sticky and feels lighter on the lips.
This shade contains quite a bit of shimmer as well and is really quite glossy! The staying power is amazing! It stays on for 4 hours or so (without meals). Can’t really ask for more from a gloss that costs just a dollar! Even after meals, I can feel the gloss on my lips. One good thing about this gloss is that even when it wears off, it doesn’t leave shimmer particles on your lips and keeps the lips soft.
Pros of ELF Hypershine Gloss in Fairy:
• Affordable
• Soft, gentle brush applicator
• Lovely sheen
• Long lasting
• Keeps lips soft
Cons of ELF Hypershine Gloss in Fairy:
• The twist up packaging can cause product wastage if twisted a bit more.
• Bit sticky and feels heavy on the lips
• Shimmery
• Contains parabens
IMBB Rating: 3/5
Would I repurchase this: No. But definitely I would try the other shades.
Do I recommend this product: This particular shade – No. Other shades from this range – Yes! For just $1, it’s a steal!!!
Hope this review helps!!
Take care everyone.
