Today, I have another pigment, yet again from ELF that I would like to talk about. I believe that whenever we want to put in a little extra effort into our dressing, there should be at least one area on our face that perfectly matches with the dress we wear. If it is a black dress and you pair it with a black smokey eye or a pink dress and you sport a pink lipstick or a blue shirt and you wear a blue liner and so on – then the whole ties up together very well. This is a very big part of my makeup philosophy. I noticed this mostly on Hollywood red carpet events when Gossmakeupartist pointed it out. This product is my go-to when I wear a lilac dress, I use it somewhere in my eye look to further glam up my day.

My Experience with ELF Mineral Eyeshadow in Flirty:
Color/Texture: This is a light cool-toned lilac with shimmering pink-green-silver-ish glitter, a very good color for anyone who likes light purple shades. The shimmer in it is very pretty but though they say it is good for day wear, I personally will not wear such a shimmery shade for regular day look. For party wear, it is an amazing shimmer pigment, as I love shades that have subtle shimmer in them; not very chunky or over-the-top glittery. The effect it gives on the eyes is very pretty. The color can be worn on its own as well; packed on the lid and blended out well in the crease gives a nice lilac smoked-out effect. It is a color that I find very easy to blend, any color with a shimmer or satin finish is much easy to blend compared to a flat matte. To get a full on color impact though, it needs to be patted on repeatedly or it looks very light. The color can be further intensified by using it wet. It looks ultra metallic when used wet; good for a night look.
Packaging: It comes in a round plastic container and as with any pigment, it comes with a sifter inside that is supposed to dispense color when the container is given a “gentle shake.” The holes in the sifter though are too bag for such a fine pigment, there is no need to shake it, gently or otherwise, as product is always above the sifter, in fact it requires you to proceed with caution as there is a high chance that the loose pigment can get all over the place. Even while closing it, the product at the threads the screw cap does fly out whenever it’s opened or closed. This is the biggest downfall of using any loose pigment product.
Staying Power: You don’t need a primer with this to ensure that the product stays on all day. It has a very decent stay-on power. It stays on till you want to remove it; and I have not noticed a lot of fading, but yes, it does get lighter as the day progresses. For oilier lids though the fading will be even more prominent. For my normal lids, I would give it high points for its staying power.
Application: When the cap is unscrewed, there is always product on the lid from which you can use your brush to pick up the color. As with any pigment, care should be taken to tap away any excess on the brush product or there will be fall out. A dense, flat and slightly damp brush is ideal for packing on the shade.
Pros of ELF Mineral Eyeshadow in Flirty:
- Very inexpensive for the quality and quantity provided.
- A very beautiful shimmery lilac pigment with a multi-color glittering effect.
- 100% mineral based color, loaded with ingredients good for skin. (Vitamins A, B, C, E).
- Free from parabens, chemical dyes, and preservatives.
- Has sun protection in it too.
- Can be used with brush or with finger; wet or dry.
- Buildable color, blend for a sheer look or pack-on for an intense color pay off.
Cons of ELF Mineral Eyeshadow in Flirty:
- Pigments are not very easy to handle.
- The sifter holes are too big and there is always excess product above the sifter.
- Non-availability of ELF products in India.
3/5. This is one of ELF’s best sellers and it is easy to see why as it works in accordance with all its claims. Pigments are always a bit difficult to handle anyway and when the packaging leaves something to be desired, then the experience feels even more stressful, hence the deduction.
Would I Repurchase/Recommend ELF Mineral Eyeshadow in Flirty?
If you can find this easily and want to use a loose pigment product, then I do recommend it because it has an unbeatable price point, otherwise you needn’t go to any extra lengths to get it, it is not a must have. I won’t be repurchasing this particular shade as it will last me a good while, but I will be purchasing other shades on the line that I have not yet tried.
I hope this helped and until next time – Happy Makeuping!
