It is true that a girl can never have enough lipsticks and it is also true that a lipstick stash is incomplete without a shade that screams RED!!! Every girl needs some kind of red whether it’s a classic red or brick red or rusty red or rosy red, you just have to have at least one or all of them 😛 I too had a brick red but thought of adding some bold red in my collection. I got one from the Studio range of ELF. Let’s see how it fared.
The velvety, satin texture glides on lips with vibrant color and luminous shine. Enriched with Shea and Vitamins A, C, and E to nourish and hydrate the lips. The rich, creamy formula seals in moisture for long-lasting wear and comfort.
$3 (loosely translates to INR 180 but I don’t think you can get it at this price if at all it’s available in India).
My Experience with ELF Moisturizing Red Carpet Lipstick:
The outer packaging of the lipstick is of cardboard. The packaging is smart enough that you can touch and see the lipstick and secure enough to hold it without causing any physical damage. As for the lipstick, the black casing looks classy, I love it! The color shows through the transparent bottom, I love it too!! But the bullet!! The bullet is not tightly placed and is a bit wobbly….so…phut! Bubble burst!! I could have done with the not-so-fancy packaging, but the Elle 18 types shaky bullet is a put off!
Aah… How do I describe this one? This is not a classic red or pure red, neither is it a bright red nor a deep red. It’s a “different” kind of red is all I can say. Hollywood red?? If that’s a shade….yes! It looks orangish red in the bullet and pinkish red on the lips or does it just look pink?? God!! I am bad at describing shades! 😛 Oh yes! It does look fuschia to me now!! 😛
Pigmentation and Texture:
The lipstick is from their moisturizing range and it truly is. It glides on the lips like butter, it is not creamy nor does it give a matte finish. From the swatches, it might look that it gives a glossy finish, but it is just a moisturising sheen which the lipstick imparts. As the product description suggests, it feels quite hydrating at that. The coverage is buildable and the shade is such that would suit almost all skin tones, except for may be very dark skin tone. Swipe once for full colour and swipe twice for glamour and oomph!! 😛 hihi… 😛
It stays for around 3-4 hours before fading evenly. It being a dark shade, leaves behind a tint, which I kind of like. Overall, I am very happy with this lipstick and happier for the price I am paying..!! 😛
Pros of ELF Moisturizing Red Carpet Lipstick:

- Pretty or rather glamorous shade (it’s not red though!).
- True to name, moisturizing indeed.
- Good packaging.
- Texture is satin soft and feels comfortable on the lips.
Cons of ELF Moisturizing Red Carpet Lipstick:
- The bullet is a bit wobbly, should have been sturdier.
- Availability in India.
