My Experience with ELF Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzing Cream:

Today, I am reviewing this beautiful duo from ELF Studio line, it also comes in a powder form and that has been reviewed earlier on IMBB. The cream version is so far only available in one variant. I have never tried a cream blush before as I have always wondered that they do would not work well for oily skin, but I am really glad I tried this one, as I really enjoy using it.

The duo comes in a matte black rectangular plastic compact that flips open and has a full size mirror attached, the compact is divided into two parts. The packaging is simple, sleek, sturdy and just amazing for the price, most of their studio line products packaging is great; you can do you entire makeup with the mirror attached on the go, just perfect!

Coming to the shades, the blush shade is a beautiful medium coral – it has a right mix of pink and peach and looks very natural, perfect for a natural look and every day wear. The color is best suitable for light to medium skin tones as it may not show up well on deeper skin tones. You can apply it lightly for a natural look or build it up for an intense look.

The bronzing cream is a warm shade of brown and has neutral undertones.  It works well for light contouring for me and also is quite good for bronzing, but the color is not dark enough for extreme contouring like Kim K of course 😛 and may not work for darker skin tones.  It will work very well for lighter skin tones though.  Because it has no red undertones, it does not look muddy at all.  It gives a great definition when used under cheekbones. It also doubles up as a blush.  Both the shades have absolutely no shimmer in them and are very much buildable. They both can also be mixed and applied together 😛

They are highly pigmented and you just need to touch the pan, as one can easily go overboard with it.  You only need a tiny amount. I would suggest using a Q-tip for picking up the product for hygienic reasons.  The texture is extremely creamy, very soft to touch and blends like a dream, effortlessly! For application, fingers work very well for blending, a stipple blush also works equally well and overall application is very easy. Although ELF claims that they have cream to powder finish, it does not set to a powder finish but at the same time does not have the dewy finish that cream blushes generally have, it just looks very natural. I have never felt it feeling oily or greasy on my skin, nor does it accentuate my pores.

I have oily skin and as the day passes, it looks slightly shiny and dewy after 4-5 hours of wear, but that is not much of a problem as setting it with a light layer of translucent powder sets is completely and prevents it from getting shiny. On its own, it stays well for 5- 6 hours on me after which I notice fading.  When set with some powder, it stays intact for 8 hours without any touch-ups or going patchy, which is excellent for me, if you have normal skin, then it should last longer.  Because it is a cream product, it works well as a base for powder blushes as well.

Overall, I am very satisfied with it and did not expect it to be this good. It is a beautiful versatile combo with amazing quality along with being so reasonably priced.

Pros of ELF Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzing Cream:

  • Very attractive and sturdy packaging.
  • Extremely pigmented.
  • Blends easily with fingers or a brush.
  • Both the shades are pretty and versatile
  • Colors are buildable.
  • Looks very natural on skin.
  • Has great staying power.
  • Reasonably priced.

Cons of ELF Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzing Cream:

  • Not available in India.
  • The claims of cream to powder finish are not true.
  • The bronzing cream may not work for contouring on medium to darker skin tones, but works very well for bronzing and giving definition to face.

Do I Recommend ELF Studio Contouring Blush and Bronzing Cream?

I would rather suggest this particular duo is not worth missing as it works very well with all skin types, whether you are a beginner or love experimenting with cream products, this is definitely a must have, highly recommended!
