Here is another review. I admit and confess that I have not used any undereye setting powder prior to this, but after using this, I feel it’s quite necessary in our makeup regimen to set the under eye concealer and to camouflage the imperfections. 🙂 Let us see how this one fared.
This light-diffusing powder camouflages fine lines, dark circles and imperfections, perfect for on camera or everyday wear. The silky powder adds a velvety finish ideal for wearing alone or setting in cream concealer. The Vitamin C and K infused formula helps to restore and strengthen skin for a revitalized appearance.
How To Use:
Apply after concealer to set in and for extra coverage, or wear alone for light concealing. Using the brush, sweep underneath the eye in an upward-outward stroke. Blend in evenly for flawless coverage.
Price: $3.00 for .04oz/1.2 gm.
My Experience with ELF Studio High Definition Undereye Setting Powder:
I bought this before my Vegas trip. The small size seemed perfect for traveling. The powder comes in a small square-shaped jar. The jar is very tiny in size, almost similar to the Maybelline gel liner jar and it comes with a teeny tiny brush to apply the product with. I have not used the brush, I won’t say it is useless but it is definitely not apt for applying this product. Instead they should have given a fan brush along with it. 😛 But at this price, you cannot complain. 😀 You can use any small fluffy brush that can be used on smaller under eye areas. I use my fluffy concealer brush for this.
The powder has a rosy sheen and is very silky and velvety in texture. It is very finely milled and has very smooth texture, but the product is actually translucent and the color is actually not shown on the skin. So, girls with all complexions can use the product. The jar comes with a small plastic cover (over the sifter) which I replaced back when I used the product before the trip which was a good idea as it helped the powder to stay in the jar and kept the jar and my makeup pouch clean. 😛 However, I have lost that now and the powder naturally spills, so I have to be very careful while opening the jar now. 😉
The sifter is nice and fine, and I just tap it into the lid, swirl the brush, tap the excess, and apply. When I first opened the jar and had a look at the powder, I was really disappointed and intimidated by seeing some shimmer particles in it but thankfully they are not noticeable on the face.
The product however is great. It is invisible once you put it on and sets your under eye concealer perfectly. I have really dry skin, and this doesn’t show fine lines or flaky patches at all. It really camouflages fine lines, dark circles and any imperfections as the product claims (in the swatch pic, you can clearly see the difference, after blending it did covered all the fine lines on my arm.) But yes, using too much powder can highlight the fine lines instead. Little is more with the product and very little is needed.
On the trip, I did not take any other powder to set my makeup etc and used this one itself, not on the whole face but only on the top of the concealer. I have also used it to set my lipstick with a tissue, multipurpose!! 😛 This makes everything stay in place and still look natural. Also, my concealer was still in place after a couple of hours, however, it may require touch-ups for a longer duration.
This does not irritate my super sensitive skin and neither did break me out. It doesn’t look cakey either. Product description says that you can use it by itself, but I don’t notice much of a difference when I do that. It goes on and feels silky, but other than that I do not notice much.
Pros of ELF Studio High Definition Undereye Setting Powder:
- Brightens the undereye area.
- Sets the concealer.
- Multipurpose – can be used to set the concealer on face (in case of emergency 😉 )
- Did not break me out.
Cons of ELF Studio High Definition Undereye Setting Powder:
- Contains glitter, though it doesn’t show up much.
- Too much can settle into fine lines.
- The brush that comes along is pretty useless.
- Contains talc and silica.
IMBB Rating: 4/5
Would I Repurchase ELF Studio High Definition Undereye Setting Powder?
When this product is very good for its price and a little goes a long way, I might repurchase again. 🙂
