ELF Studio Poreless Face Primer Review

One more review from eyes-lips-face brand. ELF introduced Mineral Infused Face Primer quite long ago, which has been in demand since then. I always wanted to pick that up, but somehow the fact that it is already reviewed on IMBB and it’s from a brand I am not really impressed with, stopped me from splurging over it.

Then, ELF released few more variations in primers; ELF Studio SPF 20 Face Primer & ELF Studio Poreless Face Primer. The later one looked attractive in terms of name and claims, so I purchased it for experience & review. It was hard to get hold of this because it’s usually sold out. Not many reviews are published about these variants so far on blogosphere. So, without much ado, let’s have a detailed look at ELF Studio Poreless Face Primer.

Product Description:

ELF Studio Poreless Face Primer Review

Price:

$6 for 13.7 grams. Cost me $11 with all taxes & shipping.

Ingredients:

Dimethicone, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Tridecyl Trimellitate, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Melaleuca Alternfolia (Tea Tree) Extract, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Tocopheryl Acetate (Ve), Retinyl Palmitate (Va), Silica, Phenoxyethanol, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Butylparaben, Propylparaben, Isobutylparaben.

My Experience with ELF Studio Poreless Face Primer:

The claims are appealing; reduces appearance of enlarged pores & fine lines, infused with tea tree, Vitamin A and E for anti-aging and skin benefits, smooth flawless canvas, long lasting etc. I have oily-combination skin, not too large pores at the moment, thankfully, but uneven skin tone makes me wish for my foundations and BB cream to last longer than usual. That’s the reason for my lookout for primers.

Packaging: ELF Studio Poreless Face Primer’s packaging gets thumbs up from me. It’s a 3”-3.5” tall, clear, glass bottle with pump dispenser and clear plastic cap. The packaging is sturdy and can be carried around easily. The pump dispenser is really good and when I used it for the first time, the second push on pump released the product on my hand. It dispenses appropriate amount of product; 4-5 drops are sufficient for face and neck.

Scent: It has a minty scent plus, feels like a second note of henna/mehandi along with mint. And, you know what, I hate mehandi smell! Thankfully, it disappears in a minute (sigh)!!

Consistency, Texture & Absorption: ELF Studio Poreless Face Primer has a bit runny consistency, but that somehow makes it easy to spread. It absorbs fast into the skin. Once you apply it, leave it for a minute or two for absorption and then go for the next step. The swatches I took were taken immediately after application. It is very hydrating for skin(my skin is really dry at the moment due to rough weather) and somewhat moisturizing as whenever I apply this, I can comfortably skip my moisturizer.

Performance & Finish: First, let’s talk about the finish. When absorbed, it gives a dewy finish. You can refer the swatches and a clear radiance is visible which actually brightens up my complexion after application.

Now, coming to the performance, honestly, not a tremendous or miraculous remedy for pores and fine lines! The experience of people with larger pores might be different from what I observed on my skin. But for me, there isn’t much difference in terms of pores and fine lines. However, it definitely provided a smooth canvas for the make-up. I love my skin after application; it feels so smooth and polished that I can’t stop touching it.

Longevity & Skin Compatibility: My makeup lasts longer with ELF Studio Poreless Face Primer. It makes my foundation/BB cream stay few hours more; say the usual wear time of my all time favourite Estee Lauder BB Cream is 5 hours on average, but with ELF Studio Poreless Face Primer, it extends upto 7 hours, at least.

The primer on its own keeps skin smooth till washed. I haven’t observed any clogged pores or breakouts, but the product contains a significant contribution of Parabens in ingredients list.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend ELF Studio Poreless Face Primer?

Looking at the price tag, ELF Studio Poreless Face Primer lies in the range of very affordable primers. For those who don’t want to spend on high-end brands for primer and don’t have large pores issues, can definitely purchase this one.

For me, I won’t repurchase this variant, but may be some other variant, next winter for everyday wear. I’ll keep a better product for festive looks in my stash.

Have a great day ahead.

  1. I usually love elf products. Unfortunately it’s difficult to find primers that do miracles for pores the size of craters on the moon. It sounds like quite a great primer otherwise though!

  2. Hey I didn’t know ELF stood for Eyes Lips n Face! 😉 Nice review! I’ve started to think that nothing really works on the pores!!
