Hope you had a great Diwali! Mine was very not so great. 🙁 But I got nice gifts which made it worthwhile and today I am going to review one of those. It is Elizabeth Arden 5th avenue NYC EDP.
Around $58 to $65 for 125ml + plus taxes (Prices vary across stores).
Product Description (as per website) :
An oriental floral fragrance for modern women – Crisp, Sensual and Intoxicating.
Top Notes of Bergamot, Peach and Golden Apple.
Heart Notes of Blackcurrant, Night Blooming Jasmine, Plum Blossom and Peony.
Base Notes of Vanilla, Tonka Bean, Sandalwood and Golden Amber.
Launched in 2013.
The packaging is as classy as the scent itself and looks far more expensive than it really is. May be it is because of the beautiful black body with NYC etched in bold golden hues.
The perfume comes in a slender, beautiful glass bottle which has the same black and gold combination as the outer box. Gold accents are present on the glass bottle. Its transparent body lets you see the perfume inside. It has a sturdy white and gold cap which is tight, secure and won’t cause any spill.
My take on Elizabeth Arden 5th avenue NYC EDP:
Elizabeth Arden’s 5th Avenue has been on my favourite list since I first bought one, courtesy an IMBB review. But the one from their NYC product line was a gift from a friend. Though I am loyal to certain perfumes that I use, this deviation from the trend has been a pleasant surprise and I am glad I tried it!
This scent strikes the perfect balance between being moderately mild and catchy. Its one of those perfumes which spread a fragrant gush of air when you pass by. It comes forth as an elegant bouquet of fruity scent with a tinge of musk and is sophisticated in its own way. Its for those who like to leave a mark with their perfume.
Once you open the lid of the outer package you are ought to sense a strong whiff of perfume which may not cater to many. But the strong fragrance reduces after 2 or 3 minutes and what lingers after is an expression of what we can call an ‘Elegant smell’. However those with a nose for floral scents might not like it, as its fruitiness along with a strong musk like scent surpasses all the other base notes.
The staying power of this scent is fairly good, given that it is inexpensive. It lasts long not only if applied on pulse points, but also when it is applied on fabric even after a mild wash, which is quite impressive.
Pros of Elizabeth Arden 5th avenue NYC EDP:
- Sturdy inner packaging
- Outer packaging is beautiful and expensive
Cons of Elizabeth Arden 5th avenue NYC EDP:
Not very mild, some may not like it.
IMBB rating: 3.5/5
The perfume is a decent buy, as the quantity-to-price ratio is quite high. This will be a good addition to your collection but I don’t think this can be one of those which you might be too loyal to. I don’t see myself buying it in the near future. However, I would certainly recommend it to those who like scents on the stronger side.
