Hello IMBB friends…
As much as I hate anything shimmery on my big open pores, I like to wear highlighters sometimes. I use a highlighter even on days when I don’t use much makeup, just to make me look “woke up” and “bright” . But there are very few highlighters in the market which are not as glittery. I am always on the lookout for something just with a hint of shine. For a really long time, I used to stay away from Elizabeth Arden because it kind of looked like old woman makeup and it doesn’t help that I hear the name only during holiday season! also, They always have this sale :when you purchase a certain amount, they give a ton of stuff free.
The website says : This ultra-light formulation gives skin a silky-smooth finish. Flawless look lasts all day: won’t cake or settle in fine lines.
Cost : $15
My take on Elizabeth Arden Shimmer Powder Nude shimmer :
This one’s a winner in highlighters. It comes in a square package and they have added a face sponge with it. Not really sure why 🙂 Also the texture on the powder is quilted so it looks really special in the pan. It comes in a convenient, portable compact form which is travel friendly and can slip in your purse on the go. Texture wise, it is really soft to touch and has absolutely minimal fallout. When I picked it up on my finger, it kind of looked like a golden shimmer but when I applied it on the skin, it just blended so beautifully and gave a lovely effect – it actually applies very sheer on the skin. I use it on the inner corners on my eyes, under the high point of the brows, in the middle of my nose, cupid’s bow and sometimes when I wear low cut dresses, I apply it a bit on my decolletage.
It is a beautiful golden beige shade that will suit every skin tone. Except don’t go overboard with it or you’ll look like a Christmas tree. I have even used it as a shadow on the eyes just as a light wash of color and it stayed a decent time underneath the primer. On my cheeks, it stays about 5-6 hours after which it fades slowly. I really liked the fact that even after a really long time, there was still a visible sheen on me. As it is on my oily skin, I dab everything away by hour 5. It did not make my pores look huge nor it settled in the lines under my eyes. I’ve actually purchased quite a bit of highlighters & eventually given them away, But this one I find reaching out to quite often. I usually like them to be almost matte with just a teeny bit of glisten. A ton of highlighters in the market are just shimmer in a pack. Don’t hit me if I say this but even MAC MSFs look extremely glittery on me but this one is just the way I want a highlight to look. This product will look extremely flattering on a young person and well as an older woman, because of it’s subtle look. It’s funny how we find a dark horse at the unlikely places.
Pros of Elizabeth Arden Shimmer Powder – Nude Shimmer
– great quality texture
– looks fab
– decent price
– applies evenly
– no pricky glitter
Cons of Elizabeth Arden Shimmer Powder – Nude Shimmer:
– With Elizabeth Arden products you never know what you get and what is discontinued
– Use this with the lightest possible touch.
Verdict on Elizabeth Arden Shimmer Powder – Nude Shimmer:
It is an extremely beautiful but underrated product as compared to the other highlighters in the market. I’ll give it 3 /5 just because Elizabeth Arden always seems to have different products every time I visit them- and does not retain any consistency!
