Though I love buying lipsticks, I am shy of trying very bold shades. My stash is predominated by reds, pinks, and mauves. I had never tried an orange lippie, and I so badly wanted to try one. Though I was scared how it would look on me, on Chayanti’s insistence and recommendation, I went ahead and bought this orange lipstick. Let me review Elle 18 Color Pops Matte Lipstick Coral Dose for you all.

Packaging:
Elle 18 matte lipstick comes in a cute black packaging with a lovely girl’s face printed over the cap. But the packaging is common to all lipsticks by Elle 18, so it is quite difficult to identify and pick one range or shade. The cute tube is easy to carry around and thus is very travel-friendly. It is such a fun and girly packaging. But, the packaging’s twist mechanism isn’t very sturdy. But, at this price, I am not complaining.

My Experience with Elle 18 Color Pops Matte Lipstick Coral Dose:

This range has a huge variety of shades like red, orange, pink, mauve, and brown. In fact there are some lovely bold shades for beginners to experiment. ‘Coral Dose’ is from the coral-orange range and it is a vibrant orange shade with a neon touch. In fact, Lets Tango from the same range is similar, only that the former has a peachy undertone and this has a reddish undertone.

The color is very vibrant and screams summers! It will suit Indian skin tones well, but is best suited for wheatish and tanned complexion. It might be too garish for very fair skin and not show up well on very dark skin. It is the perfect poppy coral-orange which will be the center of attraction with light face and eye makeup. The shade is shimmer free and has no frosty finish. The pigmentation is okay, but you need two swipes for the opaque shade to show up truly. With two swipes it will cover pigmented lips quite well.

Elle 18 markets it as a “matte lipstick” but the finish is that of a creamy-matte lipstick. Its texture is smooth and due to this soft texture, it glides so easily on the lips. It provides an even application and has a nice creamy matte texture. Plus, this lipstick doesn’t cause dehydration or dry out lips. This color tends to settle in fine lines after few hours. Prepping your lips is a must for wearing this hot shade. You get a nice matte stain after some time. Also the lipstick feels very comfortable on lips.

The staying power is around 4 hours, but it doesn’t survive a full meal. Light snacks and sipping water is okay, it won’t remove the color. This range by Elle 18 is one of my most favorite, as the colors and performance are really good. Plus, if you consider the super affordable price tag, this range is definitely great! I am enjoying my first orange lipstick, would definitely recommend it to others who want to try such colors without burning a hole in their pockets.
