Elle 18 Color Pops Matte Lipstick Red Wave Review

In this post, I would be reviewing a lipstick from Elle 18 – the shade “Red Wave.” Elle 18 is one of the most affordable makeup brands in India. Let’s see how this one fared.

My Experience with Elle 18 Color Pops Matte Lipstick Red Wave:

Elle 18 lipsticks come in a very classic black plastic packaging, it isn’t sturdy. The rotating/retractable mechanism works very well and the cap shuts with a click. The sticker at the bottom displays the shade number and name. It isn’t colour coded so it’s a bit difficult to find the shade you’re looking for quickly in your stash. Also, there is no list of ingredients mentioned anywhere on the packaging.

The name “Red Wave” is very misleading for this lipstick. It is in fact a deep pink colour with hints of maroon and red. It is no doubt a very pretty shade. This shade would flatter almost all skin tones, but I wish they would have come up with a beautiful pure red shade without any pinks or maroon in it. Just pure red colour! But that’s okay!

This lipstick is nicely pigmented and goes on super smoothly. You only need 2-3 coats for a bold pout. The texture is creamy and very comfortable on the lips. It doesn’t dry out my lips and I can wear this shade for a very long time without using a lip balm. It doesn’t highlight the dry patches or settle in the fine lines of the lips. It is moisturizing on the lips. It settles to a creamy matte finish after 30 minutes of wear.

The staying power is up to 5 hours. It survives light meals but it fades evenly after dinner/lunch or if you eat oily food. I have been wearing this lipstick since 5 hours now and it looks good. It has faded just a bit that’s because I had my dinner. It does transfer a bit. But overall, I am impressed!
