This review will be on the Erborian Solid Cleansing Oil. This product is from a very popular Korean brand and as we all know Korean skin care is so popular right now. This brand is now selling at Sephora.
A transforming makeup remover balm cleanser enriched with seven Korean herbs to whisk away impurities for skin that feels perfectly cleansed and makeup-free.
What it is formulated to do:
Based on the Korean double cleansing method, Solid Cleansing Oil combines the performance of a cleansing oil with the gentleness of a cream. It’s enriched with seven Korean herbs—green tea, licorice, Japanese knotweed, skullcap, rosemary, chamomile, and centella Asiatica—that have long been used in traditional Korean beauty rituals. This formula transforms twice when used. First, it transforms into an oil upon contact with the warmth of the skin to help dissolve impurities on the face, then when rinsed with water, it transforms again into a silky lotion to cleanse skin perfectly and leave behind a protective film. Skin feels perfectly cleansed, refreshed, and free of makeup.
This product is made with plant oils and is free of mineral oils.
In an independent consumer use test on 29 participants, after first use:
– 93% felt the makeup remover was efficient
– 90% felt skin was purified
– 93% felt skin was soft
– 97% felt their skin was perfectly clean.
It is formulated without parabens, sulfates, and phthalates.
My Experience with Erborian Solid Cleansing Oil:
Packaging: This product comes in a tub packaging. I like the fact that a plastic separator is provided along with a spatula which rests over it in a way that I never lose the spatula and it is always handy to scoop out the product instead of using my fingers.
Texture and Usage: This is solidified cleansing oil, much like coconut oil which solidifies in winter time except the fact that this cleansing oil stays solid no matter what the season. You take a little amount on your hand and rub it in between your fingers, and it transforms into a silky oil. I rub this oil all over my face with full makeup on and I can see it breaking up the makeup immediately. Even though they have cautioned against using around the eyes, I use it without any issue (just be sure to keep eyes tightly shut). I add a little bit of water and it transforms everything into a milky lotion, no foam or lather.
It does require a thorough cleansing and multiple rounds of rinsing to clear off all the oil from your skin, but post washing, my skin feels so soft and thoroughly cleansed. It removes all, I mean all of my makeup in one step – everything from face and eye makeup including waterproof mascara. I follow up with a cotton pad soaked in toner post cleansing and it comes out clean. There is no need to follow up with a regular foamy cleanser post using this cleansing oil.
It does leave the slightest bit of slippery residue on the skin which is not greasy or bothersome, in fact, I feel it helps make my skin feel moisturized and supple and it eliminates the need to follow up with a moisturizer. It does not leave my face feeling tight or stretchy.
Fragrance: It has a mildly strong herbal scent which is not off-putting. I find the scent quite relaxing.
Overall, I am very impressed with this product. The only thing I don’t like about this cleansing oil is that how expensive it is and with regular use, it might not last long. I like the fact that this is the only step I need in my routine to cleanse my skin off makeup as well as leave my skin moisturized. I will recommend this and will likely repurchase if I can find it at a lower price.
