My Experience with Essence 02 Sunny Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder:

Bronzers are not loved a lot in our country. We love fair skin while beautiful bronzed skin is the trend in western countries. Tanning is kind of ‘beautiful’ there. Though every skin is beautiful, human always tends to go behind the things, which he doesn’t have. Human nature apart, let’s talk about this bronzer.

Packaging:
It comes in a huge yet sleek transparent plastic compact-like packaging. The plastic lid can easily catch scratches, so it starts to look dirty after some time. All the details are present on the lid and at the back of the packaging. It has no mirror inside. The lid shuts tightly with a click sound; totally travel friendly. Two beautiful ladies in dancing pose are embossed on the pan. It can be used as a body bronzer also.

Shade:
I have the shade Sunny (02), which is perfect for brunette/darker skin tones. It is best for my light to medium NC30 skin tone. It might not be visible on darker skin tones though. The shade is neutral brown (chocolate brown); not very cool and not very orange, just the perfect shade to bronze up. It is totally matte, not even minute amount of shimmer is present, which makes it good for contouring. This is the main purpose I have chosen this. I love contouring (not heavy contouring) as it gives my ill-defined cheeks a good definition and slims down my face. I use this to contour on daily basis; this is perfect for that.

Formula:
Bronzing powder is very finely milled and silky. It is not chalky or patchy. It blends seamlessly on the skin without much efforts. It is totally matte. The powder is compactly packed in the pan, but the formula is very soft and you can have some fall outs.

Pigmentation:
This is the area where it lags behind of some good bronzers. The pigmentation is not good; you have to swipe the brush 2-3 times to create the desired effects. But, this one is good for beginners as it will prevent muddy looking, tanned face.

Finish:
It is a matte finish bronzer, which is always welcome for my combination to oily skin. It can be used in day time also as shimmers are sometimes unforgiving in sunlight. This can be easily used during office time also, in combination with a blusher as it gives a sophisticated warmth.

Application:
I use big fluffy brush/kabuki brush to lightly dust the powder to bronze up my face. For contouring purpose, I use a precise brush (Real Techniques Contouring Brush) and apply under the cheekbones, temples, below the jawline and on the neck (as a classic ‘E’ shape, we all know). This kind of techniques are much helpful especially when I wear medium-full coverage foundation to avoid blank moon-face, as it adds life to the face and adds dimensions.

Staying Power:
With a primer and foundation on, it lasts 2-3 hours after which it starts to fade. I think the staying power is very less.

Fragrance:
It is not totally fragrance free. It has a very mild coconut fragrance which disappears soon after application.
