My Experience with Essence #53 Pop Eye Eyeshadow:

The packaging is a round, transparent, plastic body with a see-through top. There is no brush included in this eyeshadow, and to me that makes sense as we rarely use the applicators provided. Unless we are travelling, the applicator stays like an unwelcomed guest. The lid shuts with a click so you can carry it safely while travelling. The shade name and number are mentioned at the back of the pan.

The eye-shadow is smooth to apply and has minimal fallout. Still I would always suggest you to dab some loose powder before starting the eye makeup. Or better, do your eye make-up first and then base. The pigmentation could have been better as 2-3 swipes are required to bring out the real shade. I prefer using finger tips/wet brush to dab on the shade, as swiping leads to decrease the intensity of the shade.

The shadow is unique as it appears to be simple matte black but comes off as a “light black”. Funny it may sound, but trust me it is a super useful shadow to have in your collection. From smudging kohl to a light swipe on the lid as a liner, this can be used in a lot of ways. If you are trying to do a light smoky eye, this can become your new best friend. As I was not expecting it to be super dark black, I was not disappointed. People who want super dark pigmented black shadow, stay away from this as the pigmentation might bother you.

The staying power is an area of concern as the shade is dabbed and not swiped, so with time it starts wearing off. On an average the shadow stays on 3-4 hours. I would rate it as a must-have for eye makeup lovers.
