Product Purchased by IMBB
Good day beauties! I’m back after a long, long time *phew* Hope you’re all doing as good as I am 😀 I’m here with a product purchased by IMBB. It was a tough decision because there were a million things I wanted to buy and finally shortlisted this one.
Did I make the right decision? Continue reading 😉
Price: ₹299 (but I paid ₹360 including shipping charges).
Features of Essence Black Blaze Gel Eye Pencil:
• 2014 Allure Best of Beauty winner, Essence’s Gel Eye Pencil is in an easy to use pen-shape instead of in a pot.
• The soft, waterproof and long-lasting texture of the gel eye pencil waterproof comes in a retractable no sharpener required pen.
• Velvety and highly-pigmented, the pen offers intensive eyeliner styles.
• Available in 6 colours – Black Blaze, Around Midnight, Urban Jungle, Blue Lagoon, Gunmetal, Cocoa Bean.
My Experience with Essence Black Blaze Gel Eye Pencil:
Packaging: The eye pencil is in a retractable form, in spite of being called a gel liner. You just twist the pencil from the bottom end and voila! It will twist up. The eye pencil contains all the information on it and therefore you need not worry about forgetting the expiry date, because there it is! It’s travel-friendly and a long pencil so it won’t get over very soon.
Pigmentation: 1-2 swipes won’t get you a jet black colour. You’ll need to swipe it 2-3 times to get that intense black finish. The colour is beautiful, though. It’s the perfect black and because it settles into a matte finish without any shimmer or shine, it’s great for everyday wear.
Staying Power: The staying power of this liner is great! After a tiring workout, the liner still did not smudge as much as any other kajal would. I won’t compare it to gel liners because this pencil is more like a kajal in every way. So, I would prefer to compare it to L’Oréal Kajal Magique or Lakmé Eyeconic Kajal when it comes to staying power and texture. I was highly surprised to see that the eye pencil passed the waterproof, smudge-proof and the makeup remover tests.
Texture: The texture is smooth and creamy. Due to that, the liner does get blunt fast. The liner glides on smoothly and the colour doesn’t contain any shimmer or sheen. After application, the liner settles into a matte finish (kind of like a kajal). The liner helps you create thin lines as well as thick lines (refer pictures). It’s not exactly like a gel liner texture but I’m still glad I bought it.
Strengths of Essence Black Blaze Gel Eye Pencil:
• Smudge-proof and waterproof.
• Dries quickly and doesn’t budge.
• Retractable pencil.
• Dreamy creamy texture.
• Glides on smoothly.
• Intense black finish.
• No shimmer or sheen.
• Very good staying power.
• Helps in creating thick and thin lines, whatever you prefer.
Flaws of Essence Black Blaze Gel Eye Pencil :
• Uncertain availability in India.
• You need 2-3 swipes for jet black colour.
• Acts more like a kajal than a gel eyeliner.
• Gets blunt soon and cannot be sharpened as it’s a retractable pencil.
• Takes a little more effort to remove with makeup remover.
Amazing! This one word describes this eye pencil. I don’t know what to call it actually because it acts as a kajal more than a gel eyeliner. It settles into a matte finish and is quite pigmented (refer pictures, sorry for the messy application on my eyes 😛 ). It’s great for everyday wear and true to most of its claims. I’m totally happy with my purchase and I’m sure you will be too!! 😀
IMBB Rating: 4.8/5.
