Skin Type: Oily-normal, sensitive, moderate fair
Today’s review is about a fairly new launch by the super affordable and lovely brand “Essence.” This was picked up by my friend for me from a Target store in Sydney. Let’s see whether you should try this or not.
Essence camouflage 2-in-1 make-up and concealer is a dual-purpose make-up and concealer that offers long-lasting high coverage to conceal skin imperfections. It offers a natural matte finish with no mask-like effect. Available in three shades.
My Experience with Essence Camouflage 2 in 1 Makeup and Concealer:
It comes in a simple, sturdy plastic tube. It is a welcome change from glass bottle foundations which are risky to carry for travels. The tube has the details written in attractive fonts, and has a light orange screw on cap. Overall, I really like this hygienic and convenient packaging.
Essence claims this to be a long lasting, highly coverage, creamy formula which doesn’t look cakey or mask like. Let’s see if it lives up to these claims.
I have the shade “Honey Beige,” which works well for my moderately fair Indian skin tone. The other two shades are Ivory Beige and Nude Beige, which I guess will suit fairer or paler complexions. So definitely the shade range is limited and doesn’t have options of colored skin.
Coming to the texture, it is definitely creamy, but I find it difficult to blend. I need to have a clean, moisturized skin and I use a wet blender to evenly spread and merge the foundation with my skin. It is not the kind of foundation which you can tap and blend using your fingertips only.
This is a great foundation for people with oily skin. It sets to a complete matte finish and looks so natural on skin. My skin looks bright, fair with most of my imperfections hidden completely. On dry skin, it would work well only if the skin is primed and hydrated well with a good moisturizer. The foundation has a tendency to sucks all the moisture from the skin and hence look patchy.
So, if you can work with it and set it right, it is a dream come true. As a concealer-cum-foundation, it gives medium to full coverage and looks flawless. I top it with a compact for perfectly smooth and bright skin and it stays so for 6-7 hours even on sunny days.
It is helpful in hiding my dark circles; however, again for dry under-eye area, use an intensive care eye cream. Otherwise, it will settle into fine lines. It doesn’t oxidize or crease and stays put for quite long. Overall, I love it and the results of investing more time in blending do show up.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Essence Camouflage 2 in 1 Makeup and Concealer?
I would recommend this as a great, cheap foundation for hot, humid weather and fair people with oily skin. Dry skin may steer clear of this. If I find it, I might repurchase.
