My Experience with Essence Cherry Crash Velvet Stick Matt Lip Colour:

This lip color was among the gifts I received from my brother. I was eyeing these velvet matte sticks ever since Essence launched them. Having read just positive reviews about it I went on to add this to my wishlist and requested my brother to get this one for me. I’ve tried both brighter shades of red and darker shades of red lip colours but this red seemed a little different to me. I chose only one lip colour from this range as I wasn’t sure how it would fare.

They have around five different lip colours to choose from in this range. All these five shades look so pretty that I would like to have them all for myself. When I swiped the stick on my lips for the first time it glided smoothly and easily without any problem. I don’t feel there is a need to apply a lip balm before applying this lip colour as it is creamy in texture and wouldn’t dry the lips. The colour is much pigmented and does leave a beautiful stain.

As the name says, it is the colour of cherry (bright red) with maroon undertones. I find the colour to be on the warmer side and it is suitable for all types of skin tones. This lip colour transfers easily and smudges badly but on the other side it is long lasting too. It would last for good 5 to 6 hours and may fade a little afterwards. The colour can survive for a long time if you don’t eat anything. The best part about this lip stain is that it doesn’t settle into the fine lines. Otherwise, usually, some of the matte lipsticks of even high-end brands tend to dry the lips and settle into the fine lines.

After a couple of hours, it may start bleeding from the corners of your lips and this colour may make it look more obvious. The body of the lipstick is made of plastic and it can very travel-friendly as the tiny stick can easily fit in and occupy very less space in your handbag. So far, I’ve had no issues with its packaging and the cap fits in well. It’s easy to make out the colour from the outer cover itself as these sticks are color-coded. Since it comes in a pencil form I always enjoy filling colour on my lips and it’s a fun task to do.

I always have to sharpen the pencil before use as the pencil becomes blunt easily with every use. I use my Lakme Dual Sharpener to sharpen it and this sharpener works fine for it. If it had a sharpener it would have been more convenient. But since the price is very affordable I think it’s fine as the pros definitely weigh higher than the cons. And these things can be ignored for it’s a steal for the price!

Let’s quickly move on to its pros and cons…

Will I Repurchase/Recommend Essence Cherry Crash Velvet Stick Matt Lip Colour?
Yes! I may purchase N*de Hero and Peony Star next as they are pretty colours. And also, these sticks are available for such an affordable price. I also recommend this if you are ready to overlook the cons I’ve mentioned above. As the product smudges and transfers easily choosing lighter shades will be a wiser option.
