Essence Contouring Brush Review

Hello IMBBians,

I picked up a few brushes from Essence a few days back and this review is about Essence Contouring Brush. So read on to know more.

Essence Contouring Brush

Price: €2.99
What the company claims:
Contour-hero.It’s best to use professional tools for contouring and shading – like the contouring brush. With circular movements, the uniquely shaped brush with firm, straight bristles can even blend harder lines. And because they are synthetic bristles, this brush is also extremely hygienic and easy to clean.

Essence Contouring Brush details

My Experience with Essence Contouring Brush:

I have been going step by step with makeup and I picked this up as I was having a disastrous time trying the Rimmel Contour Kit.

This Contour brush has these cute artistic drawing of flowers on the handle of the brush. The brush is not big, maybe around 13-15cms and is perfect for fitting into those small pouches and the handle has a bulge making it easy to hold. The brush is lavender in colour; the bristles are lavender and have a white finish on the top. The bristles are soft and synthetic. They are tightly packed and are dense. There is no fallout from the brush.

Essence Contouring Brush packaging

The brush is similar to the blush brush with a flat top. The brush is perfect for applying blush or for contouring the cheeks as it gives a nice definition. But blending it can be a little tricky. For a beginner like me, when I go in circular motions, the bristles feel tight and don’t move very freely and hence I prefer the kabuki brush for blending. The contour brush doesn’t give a blended finish; with quite a few strokes it gives a soft look but with a kabuki brush the looks are softer and more natural.

The brush is easy to clean too. The bristles do not fall out but few bristles flare out after wash and they do not regain the original shape. For the price, it is affordable but it is not a good choice for a beginner as it doesn’t help you to learn the technique in a correct way and I would check out other contour brushes to get used to the contouring technique. So summing up:

Pros of Essence Contouring Brush:

• Affordable.
• Easy to hold.
• Dense and soft bristles.
• No fallout.
• Easy to clean.

Cons of Essence Contouring Brush:

• Doesn’t give a natural look.
• Not a good choice for beginners.
