Hello IMBBians,

When it comes to eye pencils, we need to think out of the box. From the traditional black, eye pencils have now evolved and we have several different shades available to add zing to our eyes. I recently picked up a brown eye pencil from Essence and today’s review is about Essence But First, Espresso Extreme Lasting Eye Pencil. So read on to know more about this pencil.

My Experience with Essence Cosmetics But First Espresso Extreme Lasting Eye Pencil:

This is not my first brown eye pencil. I have previously used Lakme eyeconic pencil in brown. Somehow my relationship with Lakme eyeconic was bad and never tried any other eye pencils from them again. A few days ago, I fell in love with Essence Blacklove eye pencil. This “But First Espresso” belongs to the same range. Even though I am not a coffee lover, I loved the name of the eye pencil!

This eye pencil needs to be manually sharpened. The pencil comes in the color it houses and is brown from top to bottom. The pencil is easy to sharpen and it doesn’t break off while sharpening. The plastic cap is tight and fits perfectly. But first, Espresso is a dark brown pigmented color. It almost looks like faint black. The eye pencil is creamy and glides very easily on the eyes. You can draw easy lines on the top of your lid or on the bottom of your eye.

The product doesn’t stay on the waterline and fades away within 30 minutes, but on the eyelids, it stays for around 8 hours. The product doesn’t smudge, but after 6 hours, I have noticed that it starts to fade away. After application, you need to allow the color to settle for 30 seconds, the color is still creamy and gets smudged soon. However, if you rub your eyes, the product fades away. Even though it doesn’t cause any raccoon eyes, the fading doesn’t look good.

The pencil is waterproof but with a remover, it can be removed easily. The pencil can also be used to smudged to give a smokey look but this has to be done immediately after application because within a few seconds, the color dries and then it needs a bit of effort to smudge it. The product does crease on the corner of the eyes and the color dispersion starts from the inner corner of the eye. Overall, I love the color and for the price I pay, it lasts really long. This product range from Essence is really a must have if you are looking for budget friendly eye pencils.
