Essence Fix and Matte Translucent Loose Powder Review

Essence Fix and Matte Translucent Loose Powder

Hello Everyone!

Today I am reviewing a mattifying loose powder. As I have said many times before I have extremely oily and shiny skin which just gets worse in summers. Although I have never really loved powders on my oily skin, mainly because they all barely controlled oil on my skin for 2-3 hours which used to result in frequent touch ups and hence cakey looking face, and mostly all of them were tinted and used to oxidize on me. Before this I was using the much raved about Rimmel stay matte powder, but was not very satisfied as it would mattify my skin only for 2-3 hours during summers, and I was certainly looking for something better. And now since summers have almost started it is right time to review this wonderful product.

Price:

Rs. 399 for 15.5 grams (I had bought it for 349 two months back but online it is showing 399)

My Experience with Essence Fix and Matte Translucent Loose Powder:

The white translucent powder comes in a round transparent jar container with a silver lid and a white shifter which was sealed with a plastic sheet and the powder has no noticeable smell to it. The shifter has some 18-20 tiny holes and the jar has to be shaken before opening the lid to get product for every use. There is no product wastage and spillingas the holes only dispense adequate amount of product during every use. But the packaging is not at all travel friendly which isthe major con.

The powder is very finely milled and blends seamlessly into skin without leaving behind any residue or white cast and feels weightless on skin. I have never used a white translucent powders before and hence was worried about this one looking ghostly on my medium skin tone but thankfully once blended into the skin it gets completely undetectable and hence it will work for all skin tones very well. The key to application is using very little amount on a large fluffy powder brush and blending well, as if you will apply too much then you will end up with a slight whitish cast, but when used properly I have never faced any problems even with flash photography.I did not notice it settling into pores or lines on skin at all.

After using this powder my pores look slightly small and blurred out, it might be due to the mattifying effect though, but it is definitely a plus point for me:P It blends very easily into skin giving a very natural matte look to face taking away all the shine, and skin does not look too dry or patchy. It does cling to dry areas or patches on face but then it is a mattifying powder, so it is best to use it only on the oily areas of your face.

I have used it every way alone, on top of BB cream/Foundation and it works very well every way. During the winters I had combination skin so was using it only on T zone but now since my skin has started getting oily and shiny I use it on full face, and on places I have dry patches like around mouth using a moisturizer beforehand always helps. It does not add any coverage or alter the skin tone and hence I have never faced the problem of oxidization with it unlike other tinted compact powder. It keeps my face matte for a good 4-5 hours which is excellent for me without looking cakey or obvious and after that I need to blot my T –zone and reapplication is not really necessary as after blotting as my face stays matte for another 2 hours or so. It works quite well to set foundations keeping them matte and in place for long.

In all I am very pleased with it ,I have been using it almost every day since long time now absolutely love the matte effect it gives my skin, you do get a lot of quantity to last for really long.

    1. *hihi* thanks Gargi 🙂 , it looks pretty enough to try, but for dry skin it will cling to dry pacthes on face so I do not think its a good idea 😛 *haan ji*

  1. This soundsss really good dhara and a very well detailed review. I quite like using these white powder. i find they don’t move the foundation underneath and make makeup last longer. I will check mine if that does anything to my pores. Never bothered to check that area. Thanks. 🙂

    1. this is the first white powder I have used and my opinion changed I simply love it, I completely agree it makes makeup last much longer, and for pores I think it should be doing something , I have slightly large pores around the nose thanks to oily skin n hence noticed it 😛
