They have become trendy, and Essence nail care has a huge range of glamorous nail top coats. Essence Glamaxy Top Coat comes in a small glass bottle. As the glass bottle is transparent, you can see the nail colour and the amount of product left inside. The silver screw cap which houses the brush for application adds a beautiful shiny touch to the package. The top coat is transparent and gel-like which has beautiful shiny and glittery flakes in it. The flakes are mainly reddish-orange in colour under indoor lighting, and they turn greenish-orange under sunlight. The flakes are like a hologram, changing the colour under different lights and are irregular in shape. The top coat has a typical nail polish like smell.

The brush is dense and precise which can be spread out in a semi-circle form for easy application. Just 2-3 coats give a beautiful finish to the nail polish. The flakes settle at the bottom, so a good shake is necessary before application. The top coat looks great over dark nail polishes as it reflects the colours better, and it looks satisfactory on light coloured nail polishes. It creates a glossy finish, but it is not very glossy. The top coat doesn’t peel off and makes the nail polish last longer for almost 6-7 days without any issues. However, it does take a pretty long time to dry, which is slightly disappointing.

The removal of the flakes can be very tricky. They stick onto the nails and refuse to come out, and at times, I have given up trying to scrape them off. The top coat doesn’t chip off, but it does feel like an extra layer on the nails and it does not fuse well with the nail polish. Overall, this top coat helps to bring out the best from dark nail polishes, and I have decided to stock some dark nail colours for using this top coat over them.
