Greetings fellow readers!
On my last trip to Ulta, I picked up three Essence products – Get Big Lashes Volume Curl Mascara and two Waterproof Gel Eye Pencils. I didn’t spend a pretty penny the way I usually do on makeup products, but these products were worth more than what I paid! Especially the mascara is so amazing that I find myself reaching for it more than other mascaras in my kitty. Continue reading to know more about this product.
The latest trend from Asia: gel eyeliner in a pen-shape. Instead of in a tub, the soft, waterproof and long-lasting texture of the gel eye pencil waterproof comes in a retractable pen. Velvety and highly-pigmented, these pens offer intensive eyeliner styles.
My Experience with Essence Gunmetal Waterproof Gel Eye Pencil:
I am not as fond of colored eyeliners and even though I have a bunch of them, I don’t use them often, simply because they are a bit hard to coordinate with the dress and I am usually in a hurry when I get dressed. These Essence beauties, however, were just 2 bucks so I decided to buy them thinking they would just lie in my vanity.
Packaging: The product comes in a sharpenable pencil form. The pencil has black body and a plastic cap in the shade of the eye liner – grey in this case.
Texture: Super soft and buttery and true to its claim – gel eyeliner in pencil form. It is smooth to apply, but not too smooth like Revlon Colorstay Pencil Kohl which are so smooth that they smudge when one sweats. One swipe gives good color and in few seconds it dries to an almost smudge – proof finish. The only glitch is that a lot of product gets wasted when these pencils are sharpened.
Color: Charcoal grey with silver shimmer, but shimmer is not very obvious; just a few scattered particles.
Pigmentation: One swipe gives an intense gunmetal grey color and one need not go over water line or lids again and again to increase the intensity.
Wear Time: Once applied, do not mess with it for at least 15 seconds and that’s it! Enjoy grey smudge proof look for an entire day or as long as one does not mess with it too much. It gives a good wear time on water line as well, but the wear time might vary from person to person. One can use a loose powder on lids or a primer to prevent it from creasing or smudging.
Pros of Essence Gunmetal Waterproof Gel Eye Pencil:
• Pencil looks like it belongs to a high end brand – does not appear cheap
• Texture is super creamy and buttery
• Smudge proof and waterproof for an entire day
• Color is unique – charcoal grey
• Good pigmentation- one swipe is enough
• Not very expensive
• Easily available – in US and in India
• No fragrance
Cons of Essence Gunmetal Waterproof Gel Eye Pencil:
• Can’t think of any except that sharpening a kohl pencil breaks my heart
• Sharpening leads to wastage of products
Would I Repurchase/Recoomend Essence Gunmetal Waterproof Gel Eye Pencil?
No, because I might never finish it! Like I mentioned earlier, I don’t dig colored liner much, but yes I recommend it to all those who like to wear such liners – it is a good deal for just 2 bucks.
