My Experience With Essence Kajal Pencil – Everybody’s Darling:
Packaging: This kajal pencil is a simple sleek wooden pencil. The packaging is color-coded; the actual shade of the kajal is the same as the color of the pencil body. This makes it easy to select from hordes of pencils that I have. It has a pull out plastic cap in silver color which fits in tightly. The brand name/ expiry details are on the body of the product. So even if you lose the cap you can have the expiry details with you!
Since it is a wooden pencil it is very sturdy and travel friendly. But you have to sharpen it which leads to product wastage!
Texture: This is very creamy, almost like soft wax which makes it very difficult for application. I have to constantly store it in the freezer to be able to use it. The tip just breaks off while applying due to its soft wax like texture.
Color: The color is metallic violet. It almost looks like silver with hint of violet. The color payoff is good. And this color somehow makes your eyes pop out in subtle way! I like the color. Very unusual shade I must say!
Performance: It is really difficult to apply this kajal (Wax :P) pencil. At times it just sits like lumps on my lash line. Very hard to glide on the lash line, requires a lot of tugging to get a decent line. The staying power is merely 2 hours. It just disappears after fading a bit. If you dab your finger on the kajal line it will just come off on your fingers completely!! Not at all smudge proof!
I didn’t dare to apply it to my lash line as the “carmine” content is said to be coming from bugs which are harvested, crushed, sun dried and dunked in an acidic alcohol solution. The pigment eventually becomes carmine or cochineal extract, depending on processing. Some 70000 bugs are needed to produce 0.45 gm . Yikes. It is also an allergen. So if it irritates your eyes stay away from it. It didn’t irritate mine though!
Pros of Essence Kajal Pencil – Everybody’s Darling:
• Good Color payoff.
• Sturdy Packaging.
• Unique shade.
Cons of Essence Kajal Pencil – Everybody’s Darling:
• Too creamy.
• Product Wastage.
• Contains carmine.
• Low staying power.
• Isn’t smudge proof.
IMBB Rating: 2.5/5
