Essence I Love Extreme Volume Waterproof Mascara Review

Today, I am back with another review from Essence. I love most of the products that I’ve picked up from this brand. Most of the products have been a hit for me while some are a miss. Today’s review is about a waterproof mascara from Essence. Read on to know more about it.

My Experience With Essence I Love Extreme Volume Waterproof Mascara:

Packaging:
Essence has a wide range of mascaras and their packaging kind of gives a very funky appeal. This one comes in an ink blue colored bottle, and the name and other details have been embossed in pink. The hole or the opening of the bottle is quite narrow and it’s easy to dip the wand in. It also pulls out easily without any fuss. I’ve used a few mascaras with thin holes and the wand would always get stuck; I had to apply a little pressure to pull it out. Overall, the packaging is good, sturdy and functional.

The Wand:
I absolutely love its wand as the bristles are very thick. This wand has been specially designed to deliver the voluminous effect to the lashes. I am going to secure this wand for my other mascaras as I quite love its bristles and the way it functions. But you would have to be a little careful while applying the mascara as the size of the wand is big and it may mistakenly interfere or spoil your eye makeup.

How it Functions:
It’s a gel-based intense black color formula that claims to be waterproof but doesn’t live up to its claim. When I tried to wash my face – with the mascara on – it smudged badly. So this definitely fails the “waterproof” test. This mascara is a big no for summers, as it would smudge easily in hot weather.

When I first applied this to my eyes it curled my lashes and added a nice volume, making my lashes look voluminous. It lengthens the lashes and gives a false lash effect. It takes a few minutes to dry. And when it dries, it transfers on my undereye area when I blink. It makes my eyes look pretty but then again the formula looked sticky when I looked closely into the mirror.

It got stuck to my eyelashes and joined the lashes together. It felt wet and started to flake afterwards. It also pulled my lashes down after a while and that looked pretty bad. I feel it is important to curl the lashes and then move ahead with the application for this particular mascara it; otherwise, it will weigh your lashes down.

I had high expectations from this mascara as two of my family members already use this and I got one for myself after hearing from them. It does make your lashes look pretty but I am going to skip this one for the cons mentioned below.
