I picked up 2 lipsticks from the Matt Matt Matt range of Essence. While I was picking up the other, this one caught my attention. Today’s review is all about Essence Matt Matt Matt in the shade “05 Red-Y or Not”. Read on to know more.

My Experience with Essence Matt Matt Matt Lipstick 05 Red-Y or Not?:

The product comes in a nice silver colored body with a color-coded cap matching the shades. The cap closes with a click and you can be assured that it doesn’t open up in your bag. There is just the logo and very small detail about the shade and the weight on a white sticker which will eventually fade away and if you are like me, you would have already ripped it off by now. At the bottom, there is the shade number. The packaging looks pretty but when compared to the high-end brands, it looks a little cheap.

There are 8 shades available in this range. “Red-Y or Not” is a beautiful orangey- pinkish toned red. It is very bold and instantly lifts up the face. The product suits Indian tones very well. The finish is matte. The product is intensively pigmented and with just one sweep you can get the desired color onto your lips. You can easily build up to a rich color with 2-3 swipes. The product has a very strong fruity fragrance. I do not mind the scent, but it kind of feels artificial and it lingers around for a while.

The lipstick is creamy and glides easily. They are soft on the lips and it is eases the application. The bullet is pointy now but it will soon wear off and then getting onto the corners with blunt end can be a little issue. The product is not like the traditional matte liquid lipsticks that suck out the moisture from your lips. I felt that my lips didn’t feel any dry after application. There is no moisturization factor in the lipstick but it doesn’t dry out the lips. The product feels very comfortable on my lips. However, applying it to well moisturized and exfoliated lips is a ritual you need to follow if you want to apply matte lipsticks as they cling onto the dry patchy lines in the lips.

The product is creamy and is definitely not kiss-proof. It does transfer to glasses and spoons, but you can fix this to some extent by applying some loose powder on the lips. On my lips, without a lip liner, it went on for around 4-5 hours which is pretty satisfactory for a budget product. The products are an excellent value for the money you pay and I am going back to buy them. So summing up
