My Experience with Essence Metal Shock Nail Powder 02 Me and My Unicorn:

The nail powder comes in a plastic box with an outer cardboard package. The cardboard box has a quality seal, which is pretty good. There is some basic information on how to use it on the box. Once you open the box, there is a small transparent, sealed plastic box with a screw lid. The lid closes well and prevents any spillage. The case looks a little cheap comparatively, but for the price given, I don’t have much complaint.

The nail powder is very fine and silver-like to look at. The fine powder can be a mess everywhere, when opening the bottle or when application. They also have a tendency to cringe onto the surface and reminds me of the silver holi powder we used to play with! It can be dangerous if it comes in contact with eyes or if swallowed and thus, care must be taken.

The application is pretty easy. You need to use a transparent base and then, rub the nail powder onto it while it is slightly wet. However, with a wet base coat, the chances of getting the powder spoilt is very high. I usually wait for it to dry almost 99% and then, use the nail powder. You can use it with a sponge applicator or with hands. I prefer hands for easier application. You have to apply vaseline on the skin edges to make sure that they do not stick onto the skin.

“Me and my Unicorn” is a duo chrome nail powder. Depending on the light, it switches the color between purple and blue. I love the effect it creates. But, you need to use a good base and base plays a big role in this. The finish is metallic and I have seen that they work the best, when used with a dark base. You can easily create galaxy effect with it. The best option is to use a black nail polish over a base. If you use a transparent coat, you can hardly see any difference. I have used it with a blue nail polish to create an effect.

You need to seal the metallic nail powder with a water based top coat and this would seal the chrome effect. The wear time of the nail powder depends on the base coat used. The mirror shine is good but, you need to build up to achieve the shine. The silver is the best one out of the nail powders. This one is satisfactory, but not something that I would pick up again.
