I had recently purchased nail powders from Essence. I had picked 3 out of the 6 shades available. Since chrome nails were in trend, I picked these powders. Today’s review is all about Essence Metal Shock Nail Powder in the shade “05 Under The Sea”. Read on to know more about it.
Price and Quantity:
64.95 ZAR or USD 5.24 for 1g
For a breathtaking mirror effect on the nails: apply the nail powder while the nail polish underneath is still slightly wet and lightly polish into the nails. Create cool effects with dark nail polishes. For an ultimate mirror shine look in silver, use transparent nail polish as the base. Seal with the metal shock sealing top coat.

My Experience with Essence Metal Shock Nail Powder 05 Under The Sea:
The product comes in a cardboard package. The color of the package resembles the effect. There is some basic information on the box. The box has a tampering seal which is pretty good.
Once you open the box, the nail powder is present in a small plastic box which is sealed. The box looks a little cheap and it has the shade and the brand name on it. The screw cap closes tightly and there is no spillage.
The powder is white in color which sparkles a little and is very fine. When you open and close the box, you can clearly notice that there is a lot of fall out. Due to its fine texture, the product also clings onto the surface and getting rid of it is a tedious task.
The application of the powder is easy. You need to apply a base coat/nail polish and then while it is still wet, you have to rub the powder. You can use your hands or a soft sponge. I prefer hands as it is comfortable. The application is very messy and when applied on a wet surface, the chances of it smudging is very high and thus, I always prefer using it over dried base. The product doesn’t work well with all bases. It works well over essence base coats and essence gel nail polishes.
The product when used over a transparent coat doesn’t impart any color and you can only see glitter effect and nothing else. The product has to be used over black or darker nail polishes to achieve the color. The nail powder impacts blue colour, but the shine is not that great. No matter how much I try to rub, it doesn’t help me in achieving the desired chrome effect. The product must be sealed with a water based top coat. With the other top coats, the results are not that great.
The longevity of the product depends on the base coat. I am not that happy with this product. This one completely failed me. I wouldn’t repurchase it again as the same effect can be achieved by a metallic blue nail polish.
Overall, it didn’t win my heart like Mirror, Mirror On the Wall nail powder. This is not a must buy and you can clearly give this one a skip.
