I recently had picked up nail powders from Essence. To seal in the chrome effect, a water based top coat is mandatory and so, I picked up a top coat from the same range. Today’s review is all about Essence Metal Shock Sealing Top Coat. Read on to know more.

Ingredients:

My Experience with Essence Metal Shock Sealing Top Coat:
The top coat comes in a nail polish like bottle. The glass bottle is transparent and you can see the quantity of the liquid remaining. The black screw cap closes tightly without any mess. There is some information on the back of the bottle. The bottle has silver highlights enhancing the metal shock theme. The bottle comes unsealed. So, make sure you pick up the bottles that are behind to prevent being used!
The top coat is water based. It is milky white in color and has a runny texture. It almost feels like flour mixed with water to create a mixture. It has the typical nail polish-acetone like smell. But, the smell lasts for a few seconds. The brush is dense and quite good. It spreads well and fans out, which evenly gets the product swept along the nails. The quality of the brush is nice!
The top coat is pretty expensive than the other ones available at Essence. The water based top coat is made in conjunction with the nail powders from the same range. It is a must product to seal in the chrome look. The top coat being water based quickly dries on the nails. If applied barely on the nail, after a while, you hardly see anything present on the nail. The top coat does not impart any shine when used alone. However, when used with nail powders, it seals the manicure and elongates the wear of the nail powder. It also keeps the shine of the nail powder alive.
Even though it is claimed that it can be used with other nail polishes, when used with loose glitters, it creates a cloudy finish, which is awful. And with normal nail polishes too, I do not see this top coat making any difference. It works only with the nail powders and nothing else! The product also contains sulfates, which I am not sure why!

- Good brush quality that fans out and provides an even application.
- Dries quicker.
- Seals the chrome look of nail powders.
- Elongates the wear of the nail powder on the nails and seals the shine.
- No chipping or peeling.
Cons of Essence Metal Shock Sealing Top Coat:
- Contains sulfates, SLS.
- Creates cloudy finish with loose glitter.
- Works only with nail powders and nothing else.
