My Experience with Essence Mono Eyeshadow – Metropolitan:

It comes in a transparent packaging and I find it quite convenient to locate the shade. The transparent case is travel friendly but slightly difficult to open at times, but you can easily depot them.  All Essence eyeshadows have a distinctive design on top.  The color is a gorgeous bronze-uy chocolate brown shade with fine golden and silver shimmer flecks along with a few glitter particles; it is truly a classic shade of brown. It reminds me a lot of L’Oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Endless Chocolat; I had that before this one. The shimmer is not at all over the top. I had seen this shade many times at the store before, but always avoided it as it looked glittery in the pan and I do not love eyeshadows with a lot of shimmer and glitter, but thankfully, I tried it once and bought it immediately, and I just love it!

The color is a perfect neutral brown and has a balance of red and grey undertones to it. It is not too light or dark and will show up well on pigmented eyelids as well, it does come out slightly darker than it looks in the pan.  The color itself is very versatile and you can easily create an entire eye look with this eyeshadow alone without putting in many efforts. It can be used all over the lids or only in the crease.  It looks very glamorous and is perfect for a party look or to create a smokey eye, but at the same time subtle enough for day time as well. It is not overly sparkly and the shimmer is very evenly distributed.

In the pan, it looks slightly gritty, at least that was my first impression, but it is very smooth and the shimmer is very fine and not at all chunky. The texture is just right to me, not overly soft and not too hard, hence there is very minimal fallout when used with a brush. There is very slight fallout which is expected since it has shimmer, but it does not cause a mess at all during application.

Even after removing it, there are no shimmer particles left behind, which mostly happens with other shimmery eyeshadows.  This particular shade is one of their best in terms of pigmentation, definitely comparable to high end brands! It has amazing pigmentation and a single swipe gives a great color payoff when swiped alone. Using a primer is always necessary in my case and it enhances the color really well, to get the optimum color payoff it is necessary to use one. I have also tried it wet once, and that way there is intense pigmentation and the color comes out as a very dark brown and the shimmers give a pretty dimensional effect. I have never faced any blending issues with it, blends out quite easily.

It stayed for 5 hours on me without a primer after which there was creasing and when used with a primer, it stays well for 7-8 hours before creasing or fading.  I have quite oily eyelids; if you have normal eyelids, then it will last longer. In the swatches, I have swiped it only once, alone on the left side and over NYX HD eye shadow base on right.
