My Experience with Essence My Must Haves Eyeshadow- 12 Want a Mint?:

Let’s begin with the packaging of the product. The eye shadow comes in a tiny round black colored plastic pan with a clear lid. The lid bears the brand’s tagline embossed on it, like other essence eye shadows. But, the packaging of this eye shadow is a bit different from the regular essence eye shadow pans. These are comparatively smaller and these pans can be carried along or can be customized in an eye shadow palette as well. This offers a freedom to customize a palette with the eye shadows of your choice, which is travel-friendly as well. The lid of the pan closes nicely, but it does not shut too tightly and may come off while carrying in the makeup pouch. The clear lid helps to spot the shade easily from the makeup stash. The simple round pans are easily stackable. The back of the pan has a small circular sticker bearing the shade name and number along with other necessary information about the product. It does not come with any applicator. But, this is not really a con for me, as I do not prefer using those small sponge applicators, which comes with such mono eye shadows. Overall, the packaging of the product is fine. But, the eye shadows must be packed securely while carrying around, as the plastic of the pans seems quite fragile and may break upon falling.

The shade “Want a Mint?” is definitely a subtle mint green kind of shade, as its name suggests. The color is too pale and this eye shadow is loaded with huge amount of fine gold micro shimmers. These shimmers impart an almost gold finish to the eye shadow. The color is not easily distinguishable. Once it is blended, it looks like a dull gold kind of shade. This shade is pretty for creating creative festive or party eye makeup looks. I find this one a way too bling for highlighting purposes. The color looks lovely as a lid color. Tiny bit of this eye shadow looks nice as an inner corner highlight, but for highlighting the brow bone, the shimmers in this eye shadow looks too overpowering. The formula is decently pigmented. Two to three swipes are good enough to build up a decent color on the eyes. The shimmers in the eye shadow do not look OTT or gaudy. But since this is a shimmery eye shadow, it has some fallout issues.

The texture of this eye shadow is soft and smooth. It has a velvety feel in it. It is non powdery and does not fall out while applying and blending. It glides effortlessly on the eyelids and it is really easy to blend the eye shadow. It does not get patchy. The eye shadow does not have the tendency to crease. I have normal eyelids. My eye shadow looks pretty fresh and does not crease, but it is mandatory to put an eye primer underneath to help the eye makeup last longer. These eye shadows are not waterproof and hence they fade away when it comes in contact with water.

The longevity of the eye shadow is somewhere around 4-5 hours on my eyelids, with an eye primer underneath. Overall, these eye shadows come with decent quality considering their price tags.
