Essence My Must Haves Eyeshadow Cotton Candy Review

I have recently reviewed a few shades from Essence The Velvets Eyeshadow range (Bahama-Mama, Taupe Secret, Almost Peachy). Today’s review is going to be on another eyeshadow range from Essence’s My Must-Haves Eyeshadow range and it’s called “Cotton Candy.” Read on to know more about this shade.

My Experience with Essence My Must Haves Eyeshadow Cotton Candy:

Let’s begin with packaging of the product. The eyeshadow comes in a tiny, round, black-colored plastic pan with a clear lid. The lid bears the brand’s tagline embossed on it, like other Essence eyeshadows, but the packaging of this eyeshadow is a bit different from regular Essence eyeshadow pans. These are comparatively smaller and these pans can be carried along or can be customized in an eyeshadow palette as well. This aspect offers freedom to customize a palette with the eyeshadows of your choice.

The lid of the pan closes nicely but it does not shut too tightly and may come off in your makeup pouch. At the back, there’s a small circular sticker bearing the shade name and number along with other necessary information about the product. These tiny pans are easy to store and can be stacked up easily. It does not come with any applicator, but this is not really a con for me, as I do not prefer using those small sponge applicators attached. Overall, the packaging of the product is fine these must be packed securely while carrying around. Also, the plastic of the pans seems quite fragile and may break upon falling.

Most of the shades in this range are sparkly and shimmery, and great for the upcoming wedding season. Only a few shades lean towards a matte finish. I have hauled 12 of these eyeshadows; out of these, there are some very pretty highlight shades. “Cotton Candy” is also one of them. It is a soft silvery pink kind of a shade. The shimmers in the eyeshadow are so overpowering that the pinkish hue is barely visible. It almost looks like a silver eyeshadow. Though this shade is not suitable for everyday use, it is not apt for daytime wear either, but it is indeed a gorgeous color for evening parties and night-time wear.

The color is great for highlighting the brow bone or the inner corner of the eyes. It looks so beautiful when used as a lid color as well. The shimmers in the eyeshadow add a nice bling to the entire eye makeup. The shimmers are so finely milled into the formula and does not look chunky or gaudy at all. Since this eyeshadow contains huge amount of shimmer, there is a bit of a fallout issue. So, it is advised to slowly build up the color in place of taking too much product at one time. This prevents fall out and keeps the under eye area clean. The formula is amazingly pigmented, just two swipes are good enough to build it up perfectly on the eyes.

The texture of this eyeshadow is soft and smooth. It does not feel chalky or powdery. It has a soft velvety feel. It glides effortlessly on the eyelids. It blends easily and the color looks nice and never gets patchy. The shimmers in the eyeshadow do not budge or transfer, they stay in place. It does not have the tendency to crease. The longevity is somewhere around 5-6 hours on my eyelids with an eye primer underneath. Overall, I am quite liking the eye shadows from this range.
