My Experience with Essence My Must Haves Eyeshadow Purple Clouds:

Let’s begin with packaging of the product. It comes in a tiny, round, black-colored plastic pan with a clear lid. The lid bears the brand’s tagline embossed on it, but the packaging of this eyeshadow is a bit different from regular Essence eyeshadow pans. These are comparatively smaller and these pans can be carried along or can be customized in an eyeshadow palette as well. This offers a freedom to customize a palette with the eyeshadows of your choice, which is travel friendly as well. The lid of the pan closes nicely but it does not shut too tightly and may come off while carrying in the makeup pouch.

The clear lid helps to spot the shade easily from makeup stash. The simple round pans are easily stackable. The back of the pan has a small circular sticker bearing the shade name and number along with other necessary information about the product. It does not come with any applicator but this is not really a con for me, as I do not prefer using those small sponge applicators, which comes with such mono eye shadows. Overall, the packaging of the product is fine but the eye shadows must be packed securely while carrying around, as the plastic of the pans seems quite fragile and may break.

“Purple Clouds” is a pinkish-purple or lilac shade. The color of the eyeshadow looks deeper in the pan but fades away upon blending. This makes it really difficult to build up the color on the eyes. It has fine, bluish microshimmer. These shimmers give a holographic kind of effect to the eyeshadow. I personally did not like the finish of this particular shade. Once you blend the shadow, only the shimmers are noticeable on the eyelids and the purple color becomes too dull.

The shade looks totally different from what it looks like in pan and swatches. Only blue shimmers are visible on the eyes without any hint of purple in it. The pigmentation of this eyeshadow is average and it is really difficult to build up the actual color on the eyes. Since, this is a shimmery eye shadow, it has fallout issue as well. This is not an everyday shade and may look gaudy during daytime.

The texture of this eyeshadow is smooth but slightly powdery. It does have fall out during application and blending. It does not get patchy. This eyeshadow does not have the tendency to crease. I have normal eyelids, but it is mandatory to put an eye primer underneath to help the eye makeup last longer. It is not waterproof and hence it fades away when it comes in contact with water. The longevity of the eye shadow is somewhere around 4-5 hours on my eyelids with an eye primer underneath. Overall, this shade is not as per my liking, especially the blue shimmers in it.
