Essence Cosmetics has recently released its new line called My Must Haves which contains customizable empty palettes which we can fill with eyeshadows, lip powders and face powders.

I picked up 4 single eyeshadows from the My Must Haves line which currently have two empty palettes, a 4-pan and an 8-pan, and also 20 eyeshadows, 5 blushes, 3 lip powders, a pink lip base, a highlighter, a bronzer and a fixing powder. The selection of colours and finishes is amazing. There are bright pinks, blues, a black, shades of grey, shimmery metallic, a plain white and even down-to-earth neutrals.

The single pans come in small cute cardboard sleeves and the actual pan has a transparent lid, which you have to remove before fixing these pans into your empty palette. The shade details are given at the back of the pan as well as the cardboard sleeve. The palettes aren’t magnetic, so you just have to click the pans in and you’re good to go. The palette itself looks and feels very basic and simple. The pans have an average quality and the shadows shattered a bit after my son dropped them a couple of times.

The shade “03 Miss Foxy Roxy” is a beautiful shimmery copper colour. This is such a stunning colour and adds a nice pop of sparkle to the eyes. This applied really easily, wasn’t too powdery and has an amazing colour payoff. The eyeshadow was very creamy and blended like a dream. There were almost no powder fallouts just like the other eyeshadows I reviewed from this range.

When used over an eyeshadow primer, the lasting power of the eyeshadows is great and they stay in place all day long. I have also tried without a primer and it stayed pretty good around for 6 hours. The size of the pans is comparable to Makeup Geek eyeshadow pans. It’s a great size for eyeshadows, but it may feel a bit small when we also add the face products to the palette. These pans are small and if you’re using big-sized face brush, then your brush won’t fit in there.
