Essence Plump No Clump! Deep Black Volume Mascara Review

I visited a beauty shop near my house a few weeks back and I was so happy to see an Essence counter there. Now I will get to try out all the new stuff. Essence recently launched two new mascaras called “Plump No Clump!”, I have reviewed the natural coloured one and now is the time for the ‘Deep Black’ one. This is for those who want intense black lashes with a lot of volume and length. So let’s start to explore this one.

The name says it all. The large elastomer brush with an integrated reservoir generates mega-volume without any clumping. Deep black!

My Experience with Essence Plump No Clump! Deep Black Volume Mascara:

I recently reviewed the former version of this mascara, hence I was confused when I saw this. At first I thought both were the same. Later when I asked the SA, she told me that this one is recommended for a dramatic look and the other one for an every-day natural look. The packaging is very attractive and cute in bright turquoise blue colour with orange fonts over it. The mascara is super handy and would fit into a small clutch too. The wand is super sharp with wide bristles that help to separate my lashes very well and give definition.

The mascara’s formula is very creamy as compared to the earlier one. The tip is narrow which helps to apply the mascara on the inner corner lashes too. One stroke gives a natural curl to the lashes and just 2 more coats will give a dramatic and voluminous look. This is totally recommended for those who have thin lashes as the intense black pigmentation gives a boost of colour to the lashes along with giving volume and length. 2-3 coats are great to pull off a dramatic look but when I try layering over 3 coats, it becomes or rather feels very heavy on the lashes.

I kept on applying it without waiting for it to dry which led to a little clumping. Hence the quick tip would be to apply one coat and then wait for it to dry, followed by 2 more coats. It might feel a bit clumpy initially, but we need to be patient for 5 minutes and then it looks perfect. It gives me dolly lashes that look cuter when curled with an eyelash curler. It does not flake off at all after drying and stays on my lashes all day long, or until the time I remove it.

I was expecting this to be a waterproof formula since the earlier version wasn’t, but sadly this also turned to be non waterproof. It comes off easily with water but even better with an oil based cleanser. So I think it is a pretty good deal for those who do not want to invest in a expensive mascara, but you won’t like this a lot if you have used some good high-end ones!

Pros of Essence Plump No Clump! Deep Black Volume Mascara:

• A budget-friendly mascara for college-goers and beginners
• Very cute and attractive packaging
• The formula is super creamy which gets very nicely layered on my lashes
• The wand has sharp and detailed bristles
• I thought the earlier one was deeply pigmented, but this is even more intense
• 2-3 strokes give the perfect dramatic volume and lashes look thicker than usual
• Does not clump at any point nor does it cause any fallout
• It gives length to the lashes
• It stays on all day long
• It comes off easily with water, without giving panda eyes
• Makes my lashes look cute and doll-like; curling enhances the look

Cons of Essence Plump No Clump! Deep Black Volume Mascara:

• Not waterproof
• The upward curl stays only for the initial 2 hours
• You will not like it if you have tried good high-end brands

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Essence Plump No Clump! Deep Black Volume Mascara?
Yes I will get this one over the earlier one because I like it when my lashes look super black and voluminous. The earlier one can be tried by those who want an every-day natural look, but those who have very fine and small lashes can get this one for sure.
