I recently bought a few lip liners from Essence and will be reviewing them all soon. Essence products are very affordable and you can go crazy while shopping. For now, let’s get started with the review of Essence Soft Contouring Lipliner 05 Melt Your Heart.

Product Description:
Soft contouring lipliner. The highly pigmented, silky lipliner with velvety-matt results are ideal for contouring the lips.
Ingredients:
Hydrogenated vegetable oil, hydrogenated castor oil, synthetic fluorphlogopite, paraffin, tocopherol, talc, sorbitan tristearate, polyethylene, citric acid, ci 45410 (red 28), ci 77491 (iron oxides), ci 77492 (iron oxides), ci 77499 (iron oxides), ci 77891 (titanium dioxide)
My Experience with Essence Soft Contouring Lipliner 05 Melt Your Heart:
The lip liner comes in a pencil form with a wooden casing. It has a matching plastic cap to go with it. The color of the pencil/liner is mentioned over the pencil. The cap does not fit tightly; it’s loose and falls off, which keeps it from being travel-friendly.
This is a maroon red shade and it suits almost everyone, irrespective of their skin tone. Since it’s a beautiful red shade, it’s perfect for red lipsticks and even maroon ones. The color itself works well with lipsticks and even on its own. The color is the best part and it’s really beautiful.
Since it’s a wooden pencil – and not a retractable one – there is wastage of the product every time you sharpen it. The texture of the lip pencil is not at all great. It has a dry texture which is difficult to work with. Since the texture it dry, it prevents lipsticks from bleeding. But, it does tug a lot during application.
In order to make it work as a lip liner you just need to line the lips and it works well. You need to cover your lips with a lip balm and then apply this lip pencil if you want to apply it as a lipstick. Also, you need to reapply the lip balm every 2 hours to prevent dryness. The lip liner does not get transferred easily.
It stays put for around 5 hours or so. If applied as a lipstick, it starts getting patchy at the end of the day. Overall, I feel it is an average lip liner that can be used with red and maroon lipsticks but it is not a great product.
