My Experience with Essence Studio Nails Professional 4 in 1 Nail File:
The nail file comes in nice silicone-plastic kind of pouch which is sealed. There is information on how to use the file on the back. I really like the packaging of Essence for this product even though the product is of lesser value. The pouch also makes it easier for me to carry the file in my bag.
The file is rectangular and long and is a little bigger than a 15 cm scale. It has 2 faces up and 2 faces down. The parts are colored and named for easier understanding. The file is easier to hold and use. Since it is curved at the edges, it makes it easier to file the corners for creating an U-shaped nail shape. The quality of the nail file is satisfactory. It is not very hard but is firm to hold and groom the nails.
The details of the 4 colors are as below:
Step 1 Shorten: The black patch on the file is a nail filer. The nail file is coarse and is used to file/shorten the nails. The ridges on it are like sand paper and are very grainy. Even though it does file nails effectively, the rough patch clearly damages the nails. It also files more than needed and one has to be very careful. The file did cause some nail peeling at the edges due to the roughness. I usually skip this step and I am not sure if I would use it again. Rough files do harm nails and it took me almost two weeks to get the nails grow back healthy again.
Step 2 Shape: The white patch on the file is for shaping the nails. The patch is coarse but not very grainy. I usually use this patch for shaping and also shortening the nails. The file allows you to have complete control in filing the nails. You can either go for a square shape or round and the design allows you to concentrate on the corners of the nails too.
Step 3 Smooth: The pink-colored patch is for smoothening the nails. This helps to remove the unwanted nail scrapings that remain after filing the nails. This part gently buffs away the nails. Out of all the 4, this patch does the second best job.
Step 4 Polish: The grey colored patch is for polishing and is the final step in the nail grooming. The product effectively polishes the surface of the skin but the shine it imparted was very less. However, within a few more rubs, it had a brilliant shine and I was amazed. I have never achieved this look even with my electronic nail filer. I love this part. I would buy the file at least for this patch! The file of course is not durable. I groom my nails every week and depending on it, the file would last me around 2-3 months and has to be replaced. The product for me would be a perfect travel companion but other than that I don’t see myself using this on a frequent basis.

- Need frequent repurchases if using often.

Would I Repurchase/Recommend Essence Studio Nails Professional 4 in 1 Nail File?
Not a must buy but good while travelling. I would repurchase only for the polish part but if I find something else I wouldn’t buy it again.
