Skin type: oily, sensitive and acne prone
Skin tone: medium tanned
Today’s review is going to be on Essence Sun Club Matt Bronzing Powder 20 Suntanned. I love to use bronzers, but it is quite difficult to find the perfect shade for my tanned skin. So I picked this Essence bronzer to see if the ‘darker skin tone’ tag was true. Let’s get into the review.
Price: INR 349
My Experience with Essence Sun Club Shimmer Bronzing Powder 20 Suntanned:
Starting with the packaging, it comes in a normal see-through plastic container. This clear packaging makes it easy for me to identify the product. Also, it is light enough to be carried around. The cap closed tightly. I really like this packaging. This is a very affordable bronzer. But there is no mirror or applicator with the packaging.
This bronzer comes in two shades; I picked up this ’20 Suntanned’. It is meant for darker skin tones. But it is too light for dark skin. I am medium tanned and this bronzer looks just one tone darker than my skin. After blending, it becomes sheer. Suntanned is a natural brown shade with golden shimmers in it. This shade will suit fair or pale skin tones better. On my tanned skin, it acts as a very light bronzer with a shiny texture. It looks pretty when I want a light, golden-tanned glow, though. Also, it goes on nicely with the non-touring look. But it can’t act as a good bronzer; also it does nothing to contour my face as the shade is not pigmented enough. A few touch-ups are needed to build the color up.
Texture and Quality:
The bronzer comes in a very smooth, powdery texture. The texture is so soft that it blends smoothly on skin. It has fine shimmers which never look overpowering or OTT. These shimmers give a nice shiny finish. The powder does not feel dry. It keeps my skin soft and never highlights dry patches. It is also easy to layer the bronzer up. I really like the soft and creamy texture.
It has a very faint scent of coconuts. As a bronzer, it can’t give me that ‘sun kissed’ bronzy look. It is more like a shiny face powder to me which I prefer to use for my non-touring look. It does transfer a little, but it never clogs my pores. It also never makes my face oily; my skin remains oil-free and fresh.
As it is a very sheer bronzer, it can’t survive for long. It starts to fade just after a few hours. But the golden glow stays intact for around 4 hours. With a primer and full face of makeup, it looks pretty as it provides a nice golden sheen. It has never irritated my skin and never broke me out either. It is also quite easy to remove.
As a bronzer, it does nothing for my tanned skin, but its quality is really very nice. This product actually gives me a golden sheen which looks nice on me. It gives a nice, naturally tanned look to my face.
