Essence Sunset Beauty Sun Kissed Shimmer Powder Review

It’s raining shimmer and glitter for me nowadays. Seriously, a few years back or even a few months back, I could not even imagine myself using these products. I really thank IMBB for this. It has allowed me to unleash the artist in me and try out different and exciting things. Now, let us move on to the review.

Today’s review is on Essence Sunset Beauty Sun Kissed Shimmer Powder. Before beginning the review, I would like to throw light on some things that you need to keep in mind while applying shimmer to your face. There is a method to do this. I found this product in a makeup blog sale, but when it arrived, I was clueless about how to use it. Finally, I searched online for some videos which really helped me understand things and the usage of this product. I would like to share some tips with you guys, too Here is a face chart and a video that will help you understand the areas where you need to apply shimmer/highlighter.

A dome shaped brush would work well for this purpose. Unfortunately, I don’t own makeup brushes yet. But, an old post on IMBB called “Inexpensive Alternatives To Costly Eye Makeup Brushes” helped to solve my problem by explaining how Camlin brushes could be used for makeup. So, I have been using the Camlin Brush No. 10 and it has worked well so far. One more thing, in a video I saw an additional area being covered – the area at the side of the brows. I have found that highlighting that area provides a good effect.

My Experience with Essence Sunset Beauty Sun Kissed Shimmer Powder:

Packaging: This shimmer powder comes in a transparent compact case without a mirror. I found it quite easy to open and close the lid. The lid shuts secure, which makes it suitable to carry on outdoor trips. The brand name and the name of the product are printed in black on top of the lid.

The packaging is similar to that of the blushes, bronzers and other face powders by Essence. An orange label at the back of the case provides additional details like product claims and ingredients. The shimmer powder has two thin bands of brown and orange, while the greater area of the circle contains gold shimmer powder. Overall, the packaging is sleek and travel-friendly.

Fragrance: The shimmer powder has a mild vanilla scent. Luckily, it is pleasant and not over-the-top.

Texture: In terms of texture, the shimmer powder is finely milled powder with tiny, but visible golden shimmer particles.

Pigmentation and Staying Power: The shimmer powder has good pigmentation and one swipe of the brush is enough to pick up the right amount of the product. I have used gold shimmer powder the most as compared to the other two colours. In fact, I have used brown once or twice, but have always been wary of using the orange one.

However, when I swiped the product, I realized that the orange shade is actually quite wearable and will add a subtle hint of orange to your face. I see myself exploring this shade more often in the future. In fact, when I don’t feel like wearing too much make up, I just use this shimmer powder on top of my compact and it adds a subtle sheen to my face.

As for the staying power, this shimmer powder lasts on my face for about four to five hours. Even after that, there are slight hints of shimmer on my face. But, if I am going out somewhere for the whole day, I will require touch ups after four to five hours.

To sum up my experience, let me tell you that I am really impressed with this shimmer powder and it is great and affordable.
