I was excited to see a new range of products from Essence. They are definitely creative and offer products at an affordable price. So, here is the review of Essence Water Kiss Glossy Lip Colour 02 Mermaid Diary.

My Experience with Essence Water Kiss Glossy Lip Colour 02 Mermaid Diary:

This lip gloss comes in a tube packaging and looks similar to other lip glosses but is shorter. The applicator is also like other lip-glosses – nothing special.

The cap is what attracted me. All the products have a beautiful rose gold cap and I just love it. The tube is transparent and shows off the color from outside. The name of the color is on the rose gold cap.

The texture gives this lip gloss its name. The texture is water-like and feels very light on the lips. It also feels cool. Since the texture is light the product is very sheer. As you can see from the swatch, it looks patchy when you apply just one layer.

The color looks like a nude coral and suits most Indian skin tones. I love the color. I apply more than one layer to get the desired color and also to prevent lips from looking patchy. Applying multiple layers does result in well-pigmented color. It has no glitter or shimmer, which I liked.

I was not very comfortable wearing this as I had to apply layers of it and feared that it might bleed and also kept checking often. But it did not bleed. Also, applying extra layers is also not easy, again due to the texture. After applying every layer, I had to wait a few minutes for the gloss to settle down and then reapply. This was quite an effort to finally get the colour I wanted.

The gloss also transfers easily. It can last 2 to 3 hours but not more. The fragrance is also quite noticeable. It smells very sweet and I do not like lip products with fragrance as I tend to lick them up. But this one has no taste to it. 😉 The product settles down and accentuates dry, cracked lips.

Overall, the color is good but requires some effort during application. Hence, I would not really recommend it.
