I am reviewing a lip product I got from Essence. Scroll down for my opinion on this Long lasting Matt Effect Lip Gloss in the shade “Velvet Rose.”
INR 279 for 4.5 ml.
Matt = a must! If you love this lip trend, the velvety-matt, long-lasting lipglosses are ideal for you! The light, mousse-like texture lasts on your lips for several hours without drying them out. Particularly easy to apply thanks to the flat applicator.
My Experience with Essence XXXL Longlasting Lip Gloss Matt Effect 05 Velvet Rose:
Packaging: Like most liquid lip products, this one comes in a transparent plastic tube with a black glossy lid. The doe-foot applicator is attached to the cap. The color in the tube is because of the product. The shade name is mentioned on the sticker and Essence’s logo has been embossed on the top of the cap. The tube feels super light and handy, but the doe-foot applicator is long and weightless and you need to have a steady hand while applying it.
Scent: It has some sweet smell, not sure of what; reminds me of of vanilla and coffee. It however disappears in a few minutes.
Color: The color is a n*de pink shade. It has peachy undertones to it and will look good on very fair to pale complexions only. It washes out on my moderately fair complexion. This will not be a good choice for medium-dusky skin girls. You can use a lip liner underneath to make it work.
Texture: The texture is mousse like. I had high hopes seeing its texture, but it applies patchy and looks streaky; layering up worsens the situation. It is non drying and hydrating on lips, but you can feel something on your lips. This doesn’t go matte as you would expect. This is not the “apply and forget” kind of a lip product.
Staying Power: It lasts hardly a couple of hours and transfers on everything. With a same shade liner underneath, I can squeeze in one extra hour, but the staying power is really sad.
Since I was disappointed by its performance on my lips, I decided to apply it on my cheeks as a blush. The mousse texture blends seamlessly to give a beautiful, rosy flush. It feels comfortable and doesn’t accentuate pores. It was surprising that I could use it as a cream blush. If you use cream blushes, this one is really good. I top off some powder blush on top and it looks great and stays put for long.
