My Experience withĀ Essie Nail Lacquer – Double Breasted Jacket, Wicked, Rock At The Top:
Double Breasted Jacket: Ā Essie describes this shade as “passionate tourmaline ruby.” This is a beautiful red with coral and pink in it. It is pretty summary shade, but I am loving wearing this now as well. Applying the āRock at the Topā top coat makes it a perfect holiday red.
This shade instantly brightens up my hands as well as my mood. š The nail lacquer is creamy and gives a beautiful color to my nails in just one coat.
It is not streaky at all, but I prefer applying two coats for a fully opaque finish.
Wicked: Described as a deep and dark creamy sinister red, it is true to its name – a truly wicked shade. š Wicked is a dark oxblood shade and perfect for fall and winter. It is creamy but comes out streaky in a single coat. Two coats areĀ needed for the perfect lovely opaque finish.
Though the shade is oxblood red, it does seem like black or dark coffee brown in some lights or when indoor.
My only grudge with this shade is that it stains my nails badly while removing it, so a base coat is a must with this shade.
Rock at the Top: As Essie describes, Rock at the Top truly elevates the level of the manicure. This is a top coat consisting of golden glitters. The glitter particles are not huge but tiny hexagons with lots of glitterati.
It is a beautiful top coat which not only makes your nails look chic but also increases the staying power of the nail color. The shade is perfect for holiday season and the weddings alike.
The removal is a bit tough as with all the glittery shades. I keep the cotton pad soaked with nail paint remover which removes the nail color and the little glitterati but the larger glitter particles take more time to get removed and at times I have to scrub them off my nails. š Though after soaking the nails for some more time, the glitter does come off.
Packaging and Consistency: These come in the standard Essie square-shaped bottles. The cap is small but no issues in holding it duringĀ application. The brush is small but I like it since it is easier to apply with this brush on the sides. All three nail colors have a thin consistency – thin than the normal brushes, but it’s not an issue as the nail lacquers apply easily and uniformly.
Staying Power:Wicked andĀ Double Breasted Jacket have a staying power of around 4 days (without any top coat) with all the household chores before they start fading from the edges, which is really good. Rock at the top stays for a longer time. It made my nail colors stay for 6-7days without fading which is impressive. š
Pros ofĀ Essie Nail Lacquer – Double Breasted Jacket, Wicked, Rock At The Top:
- DBP, Toluene and formaldehyde free.
- Brush is easy to work with.
- All three shades are beautiful.
- Applies easily.
- Not streaky.
Cons of Essie Nail Lacquer – Double Breasted Jacket, Wicked, Rock At The Top:
- Wicked stains the nails on removal.
- “Rock at the Top” is aĀ bit difficult to remove.
IMBB Rating:
Double Breasted Jacket – 5/5
Wicked – 4/5
Rock at the top – 4.5/5
Would I Repurchase/Recommend Essie Nail Lacquer – Double Breasted Jacket, Wicked, Rock At The Top?
I loved all the three shades but Double breasted Jacket and Rock at the Top are my new favorites. Even though it is slightly difficult to remove, I love how Rock at the top instantly glams up my nails. I might not repurchase wicked but the too, yes for sure. š

HI!
Thanks for a review of Essie nail paints! Great review!
Although this was posted a year back, I stumbled upon this post now because I’m looking for an alternative ( preferably cheaper) to Essie’s wicked, here in India and I simply cannot! I want a deeep red shade just like WIcked, but whatever I’ve tried so far looks visibly dark pink in the sun.
Any comments and suggestions, girls, would be great!
Cheers to all!
