My Experience with Essie Nail Lacquer – Size Matters:
The nail lacquer comes in a rectangular glass bottle with a white cap. The cap has a sticker on the top, with the shade name printed on it. The brush is a little bit smaller than conventional nail paint brushes. This means you might get streaky color if you are not careful, but on the other hand, it also helps to easily paint the sides of the nails with the narrow brush. I really like this brush for my narrow nails!
The shade “Size Matters” is described as “a blazing hot ruby red” on the Essie site. That is how it looks in the bottle, but on the hands, I feel it sometimes looks like a much darker red. Under some lights, it appears to be a bright cranberry red and sometimes, it looks like a dark burgundy red! But it is a shade which would look good on all skin tones. It is a good color to match those dark lips this fall/winter!
The formula is creamy with a gel-like consistency. It applies easily on the nails. Because of the dark color and the formula, you can get full coverage in just one coat.
The drying time is really fast. This is the biggest plus point for this nail lacquer for me. A single coat takes hardly a minute to dry, even though the formula is so creamy. As with most Essie nail paints, this one too stays intact for at least 5 days, even with my daily kitchen activities. After 5 days, there is some minimal chipping at the tips or base and the overall shine seems a bit faded.
Using a good base and top coat can help retain the nail paint for the full week, without any chipping. But even without that, it lasted me a decently long time. All Essie polishes are also DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde free, which is a major plus.
Pros of Essie Nail Lacquer – Size Matters:
- A beautiful dark red shade which would suit all skin tones.
- Easy to apply.
- Dries very fast.
- Long lasting – for at least 5 days, with no chipping.
- DBP, toluene, and formaldehyde free.
Cons of Essie Nail Lacquer – Size Matters:
- Availability in India is very limited. Even if you manage to find it, the price is marked up too much.
IMBB Rating:
4.5/5
Would I Recommend Essie Nail Lacquer – Size Matters?
I love the glossy finish, the color and the staying power but I feel that the color is not really unique. I would recommend this particular shade only if you do not have a similar red in your collection.
