Estee Lauder Advanced Time Zone Age Reversing Line/Wrinkle Hydrating Gel Oil-Free Review

Today, I have another skin care review, it’s again from Estee Lauder. This one is from their “Advanced Time Zone” range and it’s a day cream again.

My Experience with Estee Lauder Advanced Time Zone Age Reversing Line/Wrinkle Hydrating Gel Oil-Free:

I have reviewed a couple of Estee Lauder products earlier. The most bothersome aspect of those products have been their jar/tub packaging. The concern being that it renders the light and air-sensitive ingredients useless as they break down by the time you reach the half-way mark on the tub. Finally, this is a product which comes in a pump bottle, so the contents don’t come in contact with air. However, the acrylic bottle is transparent, so there is light exposure.  The bottle comes packaged in a cardboard box – as do all EL products.

A quick brief on my facial skin – my face is combination to oily and I struggle with acne, which leave behind nasty scars. Also, age spots have started to become visible. Lastly, my skin can get dehydrated and dull very easily, which may well be a reflection of my eating habits and my sleep pattern.

Coming to this product in hand, this creme is for normal/combination skin and can be used AM or PM. It does not contain any SPF. It’s an extremely lightweight, gel-like formula – spreads easily, absorbs quickly. It does not leave any residue behind.

So, how is this cream different from the plethora of moisturizers or gel-based lotions out there in the market? The first thing which hits you about this product is the fragrance. It is extremely perfumed! The fragrance is heavy and it lingers on. Honestly, I don’t mind fragrance in my skin care products because I am not sensitive to it. However, for someone who has a sensitive nose or skin, you might want to stop reading now.

The good thing about this product is that it has an impressive list of antioxidants. It actually does work! No, I did not see the fine lines on my face disappearing. However, they do feel less obvious with the continuous use of this product. My face became more even toned; there was less breakouts. Even if I had hormonal breakout, I felt this helped in clearing them out quicker, and ensured that there were no marks left behind. Even though the brand does not make any claims regarding this product helping with acne and considering the fragrance element of the product – its impact on acne and blemishes is quite surprising.

Another thing which is remarkable about this gel cream is the texture. The issue with most moisturizers is that they leave you feeling oily/greasy. So, we tend to opt for gel-based moisturizers, right? However, I find that most of the times, the gel-based moisturizers do not give sufficient hydration, leaving your skin extremely matte, but a bit parched. The issue gets compounded when you have combination skin because your T-zone needs a bit of “mattification,” but your cheek area needs hydration. I feel, this product works really well for combination skin. It gets absorbed easily, does not leave any residue. However, it still provides sufficient hydration to your skin. This may have something to do with their “Tri-HA Cell Signaling Complex” ingredient, which is supposed to boost natural production of line-plumping hyaluronic acid in just 3 days by upto 182%. (Please note that this is based on only in-vitro testing and not on live subjects).

All in all, I LOVE this product. It works really well for my skin. I feel my skin becoming more radiant, clear, even toned and hydrated with this. It just feels like this product helps you nurture your skin.

There is one issue with this product! It is no longer available in India. Yup, the creamy tub versions are readily available and this one isn’t. The product was introduced into the Indian market, I think it didn’t move too much. I know this for a fact because when I went to repurchase this, I found like a dozen bottles of this in stock close to their expiration. I did not want to pick a bottle which is close to its expiration. Now the product is no longer available here. You can get it readily in other countries though 🙂

I think it’s a great product. For someone with combination skin, I am sure you would appreciate this product, but I also understand that the price point on this one can be a deterrent. In the same league as this – probably – I have tried the Cinique Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel and Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream – neither of them is half as effective as this one.
